Mum always said...
Characters: Sirius, Gaius
Summary: Gaius finds himself in a sticky situation - and not in the good, fun way
"What in the bloody HELL?"
Gaius Blank was not a man who used profanity very often, but in this case he felt it was completely justified. The sight of furry black ears peeping out from the strands of his dark hair certainly seemed to rate at least a moderate epithet.
His hands flew to his head, feeling at the fur-covered flesh, and he winced as a pinch assured him they were real, not some joke Sirius had played by putting fake ones on his head while he slept. He'd not even noticed until he'd stumbled into the loo and, bleary-eyed, looked into the mirror. Normally he woke up feeling rested and refreshed, but on this morning he felt, quite literally, like something the cat had dragged in. From the look of it, he probably was.
He frowned, taking a quick mental inventory of his body and realizing Other Things Were Amiss. His naked torso appeared fine, but as he pulled away the waistband of his pyjama bottoms, revealing black fur rather than hair, he knew it was going to be bad. He stripped off the fabric (red silk, a gift from Sirius for Valentine's Day) and stepped back to look in the full length mirror, giving a heartfelt groan as the full extent of his problem became apparent.
From the waist down he was completely covered in a soft, black pelt that would have made several Schattens. He moved experimentally, relieved to see that his limbs were human to at least first order, despite the fur. But the base of his spine had sprouted a long, thick tail, which twitched much as his Animagus form's would have with the degree of his distress.
Nothing like this had ever happened to him before, but he calmed himself, drawing in a deep breath and trying to will himself back fully human.
Nothing changed.
Heart beating a bit faster, he tried again, and again. Then he tried to will himself fully feline, but again there was no change.
Truly distressed, he ran back into the bedroom, fumbling his clock and a bottle of lube off of the bedside table as he scrambled for his wand. He tried the spell to reverse the animagus form, but even though he could feel a surge of magic, nothing happened.
"Sirius!" he gasped, leaning over to nudge his sleeping lover's shoulder. "Help! I'm stuck!"
