Who: Claire and Pyro
What: BFFing about it
Where: Around town in the shade
When: Day after the Vegas nightmare

Claire Temple didn't sulk. Why would she? There was rarely any need for it and she certainly wasn't about to start now. She wasn't going to lock herself away with her diary and write long sad poems about the cruelness of people, comparing her suffering to the seasons or whatever. No she wasn't about to write a song about it, but maybe she was just not quite her usual shining beacon of peace and love.

It wasn't that she was mad, things happened, people got drunk and freed tigers and got married. It's just that maybe she might have liked to actually be the person freeing the tigers and doing the I do's when it came to her SpiderHunk. Well not hers. Clearly not hers. Maybe she'd just misjudged a few dances and gone and got her feelings a little hurt about it.

"Anyway, we live, we learn, we get a hangover," Claire summed up to John, after briefing him and keeping it very brief indeed on the details. Not like she knew many of them herself. Carol and Peter had got married, gone to jail THE END. Or something.

That was accurate. Once you were in his inner circle, you were in. Simple as that. Though if you betrayed that trust, you didn't burn a bridge - the bridge burned you. Though Pyro had little interest in lighting this woman on fire. He liked her. He liked that she took care of Kitty in the time of need, and he liked that she took next to no bullshit. They were creatures cut from the same clothe.

"That's." John looked for words. "Yeah, I'll just light him on fire for you. Causes less damage to the town." Look at John being the responsible arsonist. "I really don't know how to handle this." He thought out loud. "See, Kitty was slated to get married before she arrived here." John spoke his thoughts out loud for Claire to hear. "And when I learned she was hiding it, and who she was marrying it stabbed me right in the chest. It was like a stake through me. I got super destructive." His darkness showing there. He went through the doors and destroyed everything crossing his path. It was what he did, it was who he was.

"I mean." He shook his head. "What do you want of it? You want it to end?" John asked looking to Claire with raised brows. Because if she wanted to be done, and out he'd offer her the couch of his and Kitty's place. "But if you don't want it to be done, you have to drive the point home, he fucked up, but you gotta let it go." He shook his head. "If you can't let it go. You can't let the pair of you move on." He looked at her with knowing eyes. "You gotta walk away." Then he shrugged.

Ultimately. "Stake your claim on your weird as fuck spider." Look, John might not give a fuck majority of the time, but he was actually smart. He knew shit.

Claire liked John because he tended to just cut through all that crap, no niceties, just honest and that was much the same as her. Although she could be polite when it was called for, she had the bedside manor after all. But people were so overly concerned with being nice, John wasn't and it made Claire feel like she could relax and just talk to him and then maybe actually get his point of view on it.

It must have been hard to find out that Kitty had been about to tie the knot, because she'd been sober for that, clearly chosen it. It made the situation with Peter look even more pointless and absurd. "But you two worked through it, because you wanted to. That's usually the key to most things. Wanting it."

Before Vegas she hadn't quite known where things might end up. They were into each other, but Claire didn't have any great expectations of him. They'd be what they were but they needed to know where they stood with each other now. John was right she either had to be ready to let it go, or she needed to go.

"I just worry they got drunk and did something they secretly wanted to do, you know? Sometimes alcohol is to blame for something they maybe wanted all along."

Well, Claire got John pretty much perfect. John was too much an asshole to really deal with the niceties and sugarcoating. Sure, Kitty was sort of the exception to the rule, but everyone else pretty much got the same from him. So Claire was in good company if she just wanted to talk and get the unfiltered opinion that she desired - because John was many things and one of those was opinionated.

It was tough. Granted it was on top of many different things. His suit arriving, along with the Senator Kelly campaign office taking over his house, and then the invites? It was a lot in the span of a half hour. But, the marriage thing could have had less an impact if he had known - though him and Kitty found their footing and were better for it. "At first I wanted to destroy things." John admitted as he looked to his turtle tooling about with them. "We wanted to, so we did." He then looked to Claire. "Do you want to." He asked, and before she could answer he added. "That's a yes or no question."

Though, Claire made a mention of they secretly wanted to do it. John stopped and looked at Claire, and laughed right in her face basically. Not the 'ha ha' type. A real, loud laugh. Through his laugh he managed to speak. "Things I've learned in life. Marvel, she does what she wants. If she wanted it, it wouldn't be a secret." His laugh continued. "I don't know the spider, but he doesn't seem like he'd settle for secrets." John shrugged. "Ultimately, you got a choice to make." John encouraged stopping again.

"What is it Claire. You talking it out with Spider-Douche or are you crashing on mine and Kitty's couch?"
