WHO: Aziraphale and John Crichton
WHAT: Exploring the town a bit more
WHERE: Around Town
WHEN: Today

Starklandia was a strangely quaint sort of place, just as Crowley had said it was. And with no manner of escape seemed to be working, and Aziraphale had tried again and again - despite their attempts on the night of their arrival. Perhaps it had been due to the time of day, or the location, so he'd been exploring a little, finding the edges of the town much closer than was comfortable in every direction.

And despite getting a better idea of what there was, and more specifically what there wasn't, Aziraphale had not found the exit he'd hoped for. It was shaping up to be a real tragedy, the kind they'd write about in the Bible truth be told. He had so loved the Apostles, they'd all been rather charming, even if their words had been twisted and changed in the years since they'd walked the earth. He could just picture Luke's outrage at finding himself in a place like this though.

He considered trying to contact heaven. Not even certain that he would receive an answer, and even less certain that he'd like the one he got - but he wasn't quite that desperate yet. So instead he was poking around again.

Though nothing seemed to have changed since his last turn around the town. Except.

"Hello, to you good fellow." Aziraphale raised a hand in greeting a smile on his face. It never hurt to try and make friends. Or at least some manner of contact. He wasn't certain things had gone all that well when he'd attempted the same at the dance days earlier. But there were less distractions here now than there had been that night.

"Uh, once, actually. Thin pancake, right? I'm more of a burger and beer kinda guy." John could tell the other man was definitely the polar opposite in terms of taste. Maybe. Where Crichton was a country-guy at heart, Aziraphale seemed to like what his dad used to refer to as the finer things.

"Not exactly. Or at all, actually. I haven't been through them myself, but I'm told there are some doors in a building on the outskirts of town that lead to different places. Like places that aren't here. That's how they've been getting supplies in and stuff."

John had been meaning to test them out, but he hadn't gotten around to it, yet. "Maybe you can try 'em out and see if you can get to a place that has some crepes? Worth a look, right?"

"Oh it's so much more than just a pancake," Aziraphale told him earnestly shaking his head at the description, of course it was a close enough comparison if you were in a pinch but if you had the choice? Well there was no choice in the matter as far as Aziraphale was concerned. He'd never truly cared for the kind of fare that John seemed to, at least not in the same sort of way, he'd enjoyed many a wonderful steak in his time but there were so many better things that it would never be his first choice.

So John was not exactly an expert on the topic at hand, but Aziraphale was no fool any information was more better than none and he was curious what someone who had not used these doors yet thought of them. "How very interesting. I suppose that this place is a bit too small to sustain itself without some sort of intervention." Which begged the question of course who was intervening on their behalf in a place like this.

"Yes I think I will have to give them a look." He agreed, "This place is very interesting, so different from the world I know."

"Yeah. Got it," John said with a smirk, realizing this guy was one of those sorts. The kind that obsessed over something like Star Trek. Or, in this case, crepes. He wasn't going to argue.

He shrugged. "Probably right. Not complaining. They have pizza and beer, what more does a guy need?" A lot more, but he was still adjusting to just being back on Earth- well, an Earth-like place, anyway. He wasn't going to knock it. Even if he wondered could this somehow lead him home. Or if the rest of his friends half-way across the universe were doing alright.

"What's the world you know?" He had to ask.

It wasn't exactly that crepes were something that Aziraphale was obsessed with as much as he'd had his heart set on them and had been denied so they were rather a large part of his focus at the moment. But it would pass in time, he'd move on to the next great thought of the moment, but there was certainly a fixation at the moment.

"Were he to be well rounded a few books might not go amiss, and some champagne might be a welcome addition." He suggested, certainly man did not need much to survive but would it be a life worth living without some of the finer things? He thought not.

"The world I know? Well it is the world." He said simply, "Created some time ago, inhabited by humans, all very normal you see." As it was all meant to be, according to what he knew of the ineffable plan, as much as anyone could know anything about the ineffable plan after all. Maybe this was a part of it? Who was Aziraphale to say otherwise?

John laughed. He liked this guy. Nodding, he really couldn't argue about the books or champagne "Yeah, yeah, yeah, good point." John wasn't the finer things kinda guy, but he didn't mind the finer things when they were offered.

Trouble was, he hadn't had any of those things in a really, really long time.

"The world? Right...so Earth." John was jumping to conclusions, of course, but maybe the guy in front of him wasn't exactly right in the head. Of course, poor Aziraphale wouldn't have been alone in that.

"We'll have to see what we can do about a few improvements if it turns out that we're meant to be staying for long." He didn't need any of those things exactly, but what was the point of all of this without it?

Maybe those doors would be the key to making something like that a reality - he and Crowley would have to do some exploration and see what could be found. But that would come in time, when they were ready for it.

"Earth, yes." He agreed nodding, "And all the rest of course, the solar system, the galaxy, the universe I'm sure you know how it all goes."

"Riiiight," John stared at the man and tilted his head to the side as if trying to figure out a puzzle. Then he just shook it off. "Well, it was nice meeting you neighbor." Because, in all honesty, he had enough crazy in his own head and while this fellow was friendly and all, he was getting that kinda vibe from him.

"I'm just gonna...go to Stark's- but I'll see you around, yeah?" He smirked and waved, leaving the poor strange many on his own. All the while thinking, is that what people see when they talk to me?

No wonder he had such a hard time making friends across the universe.
