WHO: James Potter and Carol Danvers
WHAT: Quidditch Rules
WHERE: Big, open area
WHEN: Late June
RATING: Low/None

Though he didn't go exploring through the Doors on his own all that often, James was feeling the itch. He'd let Remus and Sirius know where he was headed and started opening and closing Doors until he found one that harbored some of the things he was looking for. He was happy in Starklandia with Remus and Sirius, but he'd arrived here without many of the things he was used to back at home. So he opened door after door until he found a world with a magical community--and one finally opened straight into a wizarding hotel.

With the help of his invisibility cloak, James found a boatload of supplies for potion making and other magical items and had come away with a few broomsticks, too. So today he was trying them out. One at a time, he wanted to make sure that they were good enough for him and his friends. Flying felt free. He was able to let all the trouble, worries, and stress of being in this place melt away as he kicked up off the ground and went soaring into the sky.

This broom was a lot faster than the brooms of his day. He laughed as he shot forward, hugging down low against the wood.

"Oh, I don't just say I'm a wizard. I am one." James grinned, flying a little closer so he could shake her hand. "James. James Potter." He released her hand after giving it a solid shake.

"I guess so? I've been sticking to my own little corner for the most part." He shrugged one shoulder. "Though, I meet more and more people day by day. And I figure there's gonna be more opportunities now that I've got a handful of brooms." Hopefully they could figure out how to get the non-magical folk to fly.

"Pleasure, James." She nodded and looked a bit more closely at the broom, clearly assessing it before turning her attention back to him. "I always thought it was a little cliche to have a witch or wizard on a broom, but I guess it's a real thing. Is that a seat?"

It reminded her of her old motorcycle, and it was strangely...relatable. She wondered if flying on a broom gave James the same feeling that flying in a plane had given her years ago. Something to ask eventually...

"So what do you do with more than one broom? I didn't think there were that many of you guys here." She hadn't even realized he might referring to non-magical folk.

"Yeah, it's a seat. This is a Quidditch broom, though, rather than a simple transportation broom." He motioned to where the seat was, and where the footholds were on his broom. It was a lot nicer than the brooms he'd flown in the mid-seventies. Broom manufacture had come a long way since his day.

"There's a game we play." James wondered how that sounded. Childish? He cleared his throat and added, "it's a sport, actually. Called Quidditch. Seven players on each team. That's one of the reasons I'm out here--I want to try and make a Quidditch Pitch."

She nodded as if it made sense. Well, it sort of did. She'd been dealing with extraterrestrials long enough, that she probably just had to think as magic folks as something like that. It was a different ability, a different form of technology, and brooms were apparently a very different form of transportation. She was actually pretty impressed with what she saw there, all things considered.

He had her at sport. Carol looked up at him, cocking her head to one side and grinning. "Okay, you have my attention." She looked around the field then back at him. "Quidditch? Anything I can relate that to?" She was honestly curious about the game. Besides, anything new to do for recreation around here was always welcome.

James's smile and eyes only grew brighter when she grinned. It was a very, very pleasant grin, he thought, as he flew in a little closer.

"Uh... no. I don't think so. I'm not all that familiar with muggle sports. There's these hoops at the end of the pitch--the field, sort of. The gameplay area--and there are three members on the team who try to get the ball through the hoops. Then you have a player on each team guarding their hoops." That was just the beginning, though.

James held up his hands as if he was a film director or an architect, imagining what the pitch would look like if they were really able to make one. "Two players on each team direct a hard, flying ball at the other players to distract them, and one player on each team has to find the golden snitch--the ball that ends the game."
