Who: Flash and Gwen
Where: chicken coop
When: recentlyish
What: finding stray chickens
Rating: mild, cussing

The past couple of weeks had been hard, but Flash was really good at dodging people when he needed to. Venom could only be attached to him for 48 hours or things got weird. When there was no Venom, there were no legs and Flash didn't want anyone to see him like that. So he had his room, he stayed out of sight and pretended things were cool. It was working so far, but he really wanted to see Gwen. He wanted to see Gwen and not start blubbering like an idiot over her. That required Venom's help.

Flash would have liked to be vegetarian. Pisca-whateverian even. But, Venom needed protein. He needed food and leaves weren't going to cut it. Flash knew the second Venom saw those chickens, there would be poking thoughts about ripping the feathered dinosaurs to pieces with his teeth. He'd obsess over chickens. Non stop chicken dishes would start springing to mind. Venom was good at poking the anger bear that slumbered in Flash's head. So, here's what Flash did. He went into one of those doors people were telling him about. He ate (stole) like ten bowls of rice, one entire roasted Farfetch'd, had five lemonades on the roof and somehow managed to not eat a Slowpoke tail. A good day, if you asked him.

So, there. He was ready to catch chickens that had escaped from the coop. Venom wasn't even interested in the thought of chicken anymore after trying a real Pokemon for lunch. Flash could appear totally fucking normal.

He looked normal, as normal as he could. He wore a black shirt with jeans, a black baseball cap and that was it. Venom had transformed into normal clothing while ensuring that Flash could still walk around and appear 100% fine by most people's standards. Flash was already working on the coop, noticing that there were some fencing that needed to be repaired. Kneeling, he twisted some of the new wire fencing in and occasionally threw seeds to the obedient, good chicken who didn't escape into the woods.

It amused her the more she learned about how different she was in some ways from other Gwens in different worlds. She'd never met another Gwen Stacy, but she sounded like she was a good person and that was really all she cared about in the grand scheme of things. If she was a brainiac then that was cool. In all honesty, Gwen, this Gwen, was actually highly intelligent too. She just had different priorities. But her smarts had helped her evade the police for so long, and had her outsmarting those who were trying to thwart her or even hurt her.

"I liked school a lot," she said. But I kinda had to shift focus when I got bit. I liked science, but Peter was smarter. I liked listening to him talk about all that stuff." She could remember those days with fondness, if not some sadness too. "And yeah, my dad was the police captain. Actually, he was the one in charge of tracking me down to arrest Spider-Woman." She sighed. Time to tell the story again.

"It's kind of a long story. See, when I first started out as Spider-Woman, I was doing little things to help out that got me a lot of attention. People liked Spider-Woman and it felt really good," she said. "Peter was kind of obsessed about it. Not so much Spider-Woman, just, how I got so much attention and how special I was. He didn't know it was me, but you know what I mean." She looked up at the sky for a moment. "He was getting picked on. Like, really bad. I stepped in a lot, but it didn't stop it from happening. Anyway, I guess Peter was trying to think of a way to put a stop to it his own way, and to get the same kind of attention. You have a Lizard-man type creature in your world? Because in mine, it was Peter. He got out of control and I had to.. I had to stop him." This was the part she didn't want to talk about. This was the part that never got any easier, she was never numb to it. It broke her heart every time.

"I had to fight him, Flash," she said. "And I kept trying -- I told him I'd fix everything, that we'd make it all right again. But he wouldn't stop. So I kept fighting him and I guess I.. I hit him too hard and he fell. He turned back into himself so I ran over to him and tried to wake him up." Gwen felt her eyes stinging. "He reached up and touched my face. He said 'I just wanted to be special like you.' And then he was gone. I killed my best friend." She took a shaky breath and wiped her eyes with her sleeve. "The police came right then, and saw me with him. They assumed I murdered him. I guess, maybe I did -- I didn't mean to, but he died because of me. And then everyone accused me of murder. News articles ran like wildfire. My own dad launched an investigation and had a team out trying to find me. I eventually had to tell him who I was because he had a gun aimed at my head when he caught me. He let me go, but the stress from it all has really hurt our relationship. I keep trying to do go, you know? I try to help people and make the world safer. But it's like I do one great thing and then ten bad things happen right after so people forget the good things and just bring up the murder again."
