Are you fucking Sirius? ([info]beingsirius) wrote in [info]snapthread,

WHO: Sirius Black and the gang (so really, basically everyone is welcome here!)
WHAT: ADVENTURES, ROMPING. POKEMON.
WHERE: The Alola Door- Hau’oil City
WHEN: Saturday
RATING: Low

Sirius had waited until later in the day, because that was when Miles got off of work -- a strange concept, but who was Sirius to disagree with it when he got hand delivered coffee out of the deal? And in the mean time had invited plenty more people to just show up with them and check things out. No reason not to -- buddy systems were all fine and good, but going as a group had plenty of merits too. Divide and conquer, shouting loudly, never running out of people to chatter at, the usual.

Mind, he'd went and grabbed his best mates for coming along too, James and his Remus. They had to be there.

And it was worth it, all that (little) effort of coordination, once he opened up the door and a tropical scene of palm trees, bright sun and a sprawling city that boasted a beach nearby all stretched out before them.

Perfect. It was absolutely perfect.

And so, of course, he was quite pleased with himself. "Beach eventually, you all!" he decided, stepping through and oohhhing over the sunshine. "You won't believe how brilliant I am at a doggie paddle."

Bucky had kept a slight distance back from the rest of the group that initially went through the door that led to the tropical place. He'd been a little hesitant about going at all, but he ultimately wanted to because he kind of just wanted to get out for a little while, on his own.

He'd been through a lot, emotionally, really ever since arriving in town. Honestly, even before that -- his whole life had been an emotional rollercoaster ever since regaining his memories. And sometimes, he just needed to go clear his head. Wandering around in this new town through the door seemed like a good idea. Clint and Natasha might get on him for going without telling anyone but he'd apologize for it later. Actually, they might just understand and not get on his case at all. For that, he'd thank them instead.

It'd been a while since he'd walked through sand. Looking around, he sort of tried to assess if there was any sort of danger and no, it didn't feel like it. The thing that was weird was that there were.. animals? Creatures? Kind of roaming around but none of the people he saw seemed bothered or scared. So he just had to assume that was normal, no matter how odd it looked.

He left the beach, and began down a path that led to more of a village market type place. Bucky looked around, thinking he'd bring something back for Nat and Clint, and just taking in whatever he could see.

Steve was amazed by the island. A) Because he'd always wanted to go to a tropical island and b) there were strange creatures that populated the reality that were just fascinating. From what he'd gathered, the creatures were native to the land. His initial reaction? Aliens. Possibly government experiments. After all, it wouldn't be the first time that the government had decided to do something in an effort to "better" their circumstances. Each animal seemed to have a different skill, and from what he'd seen, they'd bonded with a human (sometimes). He was still trying to figure out if they were pets or something more? It was hard to tell.

Another difficulty he encountered was the weather. When he arrived, he was overly dressed. The idea that they might end up in a warm environment -- the kind of warm that would, eventually, be unbearable. So, once they'd arrived, he'd rolled up his jeans so that they stopped at just above his calf. He'd removed his blue checkered shirt and wrapped it around his waist, leaving him with a muscle tee. His shoes were tied along the handle of his backpack. As it turned out, walking about barefoot wasn't so bad in this village. Though, to be fair, he'd just come from the beach. Meanwhile, he wore a baseball cap that, currently, he swung backwards.

He smiled, softly, as he watched some of the creatures play with some of the younger children. Eventually, as he weaved through the crowd -- he caught sight of a familiar sight. He hadn't seen him arrive with them. Though, in truth, he'd wandered off just as soon as he arrived. Slipping his hands in his pockets, he saddled up quiet as could be next to Bucky and said: "Fancy running into you." He offered him a warm smile, though, as he leaned against the table.

This world was more than a little strange, but Bucky kind of liked that. He didn't want to see more of the same. Having completely different surroundings was a good thing in his case. He needed that. It took him out of his head and let him just live in the moment. That was something he really needed to do a lot more of, and was learning how the longer he was in their town.

Bucky had been watching a kid playing with some sort of big duck that had its hands on the sides of its head. This place and the way people interacted with the animals -- creatures? -- was very interesting. It wasn't like they were pets. More like partners? Was that the right word? Whatever it was, it was very interesting to Bucky.

He was a little caught up in that, rather than being hyper vigilant like he was most of the time, so he didn't realize it until he heard another voice that someone was next to him, talking to him. He turned and much to his surprise it was Steve -- the younger Steve. Bucky hadn't seen him in a while. "Hey," he said, and offered a little smile. "How are you?"

How was he? He shrugged. Steve was still trying to figure that out. Last he'd checked, Jan was gone. That was...unsettling. Perhaps, for a moment, it flashed on his face. But if in his short time here had taught him anything, people came and went at random. He just hoped that when they went -- they went back home. Because the thought of something awful happening would be too much to bear, so he chose to be optimistic. "I'm okay," he said as he forced his expression to shift, "figured a distraction was in order." He glanced at a few of the items before them on the table, fingers brushing up against some of them to feel the texture. "And I hadn't yet slipped through a door yet."

"How about you?" he asked as he picked up a sphere object--blue and white. Interesting. He shook it and tried to listen to see if there was anything inside. He set it back down before focusing on... His friend? Could he call him that? He hesitated. "I've been thinking about you," he admitted. "Saw you storm out the last time we saw each other. I was going to follow you out and see if you were okay, but I wasn't sure if that was my place." He was, after all, not his Bucky. He figured maybe the older Steve would do that. "Plus, if you're anything like the Bucky in my universe, sometimes you need a bit of time to think."

His eyes widened, though, as overhead a pair of giant butterflies or at least butterfly type creatures flew near them, swirling around each other. He reached over to touch Bucky's arm and motioned toward it. "This place is..." He laughed. "I don't think I've ever seen anything like it. Kind of amazing, right?"

It was a little hard to see Steve, admittedly, because of the lingering and unresolved sort of situation he was going through with the Steve from his world. His Steve -- could he refer to him that way anymore, even in his head? It didn't carry any sort of romantic undertone but there was still a level of possession there that he wasn't sure was his to take at this point. That was unsettling, but also undetermined. He knew he couldn't avoid the Steve he knew much longer. He'd wanted space and he'd gotten it. There was a lot of clarity for him now, at least in his own personal life and he was happy with that. The last step to closure would be to see how he felt whenever he was around Steve again. He just needed to feel brave enough to go there. But now was not the time for all that.

"Thanks for saying that," he said. "It's probably just as well you didn't. I was not really in the best head space. But I'd really enjoyed seeing you before that." Thankfully Clint had taken pretty good care of him after that episode with Stark. "But, just for clarity. You're Steve Rogers. Even if you're not the same one I grew up with, you're always gonna be welcome."

He looked up and could actually hear the fluttering of wings above them. Bucky had never seen butterflies like that before. "This place, it's pretty incredible. Do you want to take a walk? See more of it?" He'd intended to do that by himself, but there was a familiarity there even if he couldn't call this Steve his.

Steve smiled softly. "Good to know," he said. In truth? It was hard being here without his Bucky. Not that having Tony around wasn't great. But he had only just found Bucky when they set out to take out the last remnants of Hydra. Part of him wanted to be sure that his friend would be okay because he was going through something that he wasn't sure how to truly help him. Plus... Well, not having Bucky had always left a hole. Sure, all of his friends at the Academy were great, but Bucky knew him before -- the real him. The him before serum. Before the war. Before the legends. Sometimes he was certain that people were his friend because of the "legend" of Captain America and what that inspired. It put a kind of pressure on him. He was sure, though, that Bucky was fine without him. He did, after all, have Natasha on speed dial. But that was a different story.

He slapped his hand on Bucky's shoulder and gave it a bit of a squeeze. "Honestly? That's the best offer I've had all day." He placed his hands on his hips. "I've trying to people watch. Get some info on what's going on with these creatures." Steve took a deep breath. "So far, I've gotten distracted by shiny things," he said with a laugh. "Everything about this place is so different." He started wandering, carefully, backward as he spoke while the traffic by market was low. "I kind of want to figure out how to get some currency to take some souvenirs, y'know?" Who knew when they might encounter a place like this again? "How about you?" He paused and motioned toward Buck's arm. "Can that thing get wet? We could hit the beach." He smirked. "Maybe they got some Coneys out here, yeah?"

Although Bucky didn't know a lot about this Steve other than the basics, he felt it was safe to assume that he was close to the Bucky that came from that world. He just sort of figured it was one of those things that went hand in hand in most worlds. Steve Rogers and Bucky Barnes, best friends and maybe in some places more than that. If this Steve missed his Bucky, then he hoped he could sort of dull that ache by being a similar presence, even if he was a lot different, and definitely older.

Interacting with this Steve was very interesting. He reminded him a little of the Steve he knew, just young. When his Steve was that young, he was tiny and sickly and picking fights with bullies or anyone he thought had done someone else some grave injustice and Bucky usually had to bail him out. Or, he was at his bedside listening to radio programs while Steve recovered from that week's fever, asthma attack, or fatigue. Seeing Steve this age, so healthy and vibrant, it was really very different.

"Yeah, this one's pretty advanced," he said, glancing down at his Wakandan made bionic arm. It was definitely upgraded from the one Zola had invented and other HYDRA techs and scientists had modified over the years. "Man, I could really go for a Coney." Memories he liked recalling; him and Steve at Coney Island -- god, that was so long ago. They'd saved all their money for that trip. It was one of the best times of his whole life.

"Maybe if we can find something useful; coconuts or berries or something we can trade it for money," he said. "Or see if any vendors around need some quick help with anything they might pay us to do."

A goofy, reminiscent smile slapped on his face as a memory flashed before his eyes. "That takes me back," he said with a chuckle. "Sometimes, my Bucky and I, we'd go around the neighborhood and do some errands, some chores, shined some shoes, whatever we could just to get a few pennies so we could save up and see a picture or get some cotton candy by the boardwalk or, hell, a Coney." His gait slowed a bit as he got lost in thought. "I'm pretty sure those are my favorite memories." His smile faltering just a bit. "Even if I know it had to be tough to be friends with me sometimes." He chuckled. "The sick kid who always got into fights had to make it hard on a rambunctious type." And Bucky was pretty rambunctious sometimes. But he was the best pal a kid could ask for.

"But enough of that," he said as he hooked his thumbs on the straps of his backpack. "Should we hit the wooded areas first and see what we can find or talk to the vendors?" He quirked a brow. "I think if we hit the woods we might run into more of these creatures which could be cool." But, well, they'd probably run into just as many with the vendors.

It was a bit of a bittersweet feeling to listen to Steve talk about the adventures he had with the Bucky from his world. From what it sounded like, they did a lot of the same things. Worked odd jobs here and there to make as much money as they could to both pay the bills and hopefully save enough for something special. "Mine too," he said, trying to be a bit reassuring as he gave Steve's shoulder a little squeeze. No matter what he and his Steve were facing right now, whatever changes their relationship went through, nothing could erase what had been. And a century ago, he'd been living a very happy life with his best friend, loving him whole heartedly and having the best time even when times were the hardest.

"Let's hit the woods first. Come back with a little stuff and see if it's what the people are looking for," Bucky suggested. If nothing else maybe they'd see some different little creatures wandering around out there. He was certainly interested to see what other kinds there were. "C'mon, pal." He clapped his shoulder again and started heading for what looked like a treeline.

"Sounds good," Steve replied as he followed Bucky toward the treeline. This reality -- planet -- whatever it was they were on was so bright. The air was fresher. The people certainly seemed happier. A far cry from the streets of New York, past or present. It was kind of refreshing to be in a place where people didn't wear the baggage on their sleeve. Or, perhaps, maybe it was just nice to be around a lot of people again. There had been a few times where he thought it might be nice in some place slower and quieter, but the more time he spent away from home -- the more he realized how much New York City was a part of who he was.

The minute they entered the wooded area -- he could hear the sounds of the creatures. Some, mere squawks and sounds. Sometimes? He could hear words. Names? He wasn't sure. But it was certainly fascinating. He gasped, though, as he took a step -- and a plant-like creature let out a cry and he stumbled back. His eyes widened and it scurried off then he let out a laugh. "We should be careful where we step," he said to his friend, but then paused--brow furrowing when he heard sounds of distress and shouting. That wasn't good.

Steve reached for the shield strapped on his back and slipped it on his forearm. "It's probably nothing," he began, "but just in case, right?"

There were days when Bucky truly missed Brooklyn. It was far different in the earlier half of the twentieth century than it would be now, he was sure, but there were days when he missed the city. Living in Wakanda, things had slowed down for him considerably. Even when he'd been in Bucharest living in hiding, it'd been faster paced. He could've ventured into the more high tech part of the country but part of his pretty intensive therapy was to live a quieter life, to slow down, to have time to sort through his demons and not distract himself from them by what was going on in the more urban area. The town they'd all been taken to was slower paced too, and this? This island-like place, well, it was beautiful.

Walking beside Steve, he too heard the sounds that sounded like words at times. Or half words? Words that weren't actually words he'd ever heard before. It was weird, but he didn't feel like it was dangerous. "Whoa," he said, and raised an eyebrow with the very displaced little plant creature threw a little fit.

That not dangerous feeling kind of shifted into slight dread when he too heard the distressed sounds not too far away. He flexed his metal arm a little. Bucky hadn't armed himself, which maybe hadn't been the best idea but he was pretty much constantly armed -- a terrible pun, but true nonetheless.

"Yeah, let's check it out." If there was trouble, maybe they could do some good.

Steve stepped about carefully signalling that they split--taking in from both sides. Luckily, there were enough wooded areas for them to use as cover. He listened carefully, the rumbling of voice and crying were near as well as whimpering that he hoped came from a creature. Not that it would be much better if it was. As he inched closer, using a large brush of flora to maintain his cover, he could hear the cruel laughter of a pair of men with skulls on their chest.

"Just hand over those pokeballs," one of them said. "We'll split, bruh. No harm, no foul. But if you want a fight." There was some more laughter.

"Well, you saw how well that worked for you," said the second man.

"Please," pleaded a smaller voice. Younger voice. And Steve's brow furrowed deeply. He hated bullies. Peering over, he could see a large snake-like creature hissing and inching toward the young boy. With a frown, he flung his shield -- off a tree trunk, across the faces of the two bullies, and up against the back of the large snake-like creature, sending it right back in his direction--which he caught without much trouble.

"You know," Steve said as he stood his ground. "It's not real polite to take things that doesn't belong to you."
