Who: Kitty Pryde and St John Allerdyce
What: A date? Maybe? Kinda? Sorta?
Where: At John's to start
When: Friday!

Dinner. It was such a simple thing and yet as Kitty made her way over to John's house that evening she couldn't help but wonder what exactly she was getting herself into. Things would be so different if they were back home. She'd have still been sorting out things after Piotr and well there was the school to consider and well - he was dead. So she supposed trying to fame this in the context of being back home it was a moot point. This never would have happened there.

But she couldn't help the comparison, maybe it would be a little like Bobby inviting the new Pyro to join the team, bringing him to the wedding. How weird was it that she could find these kinds of similarities between her life and Bobby's after everything? Too weird maybe. Not that it stopped her from agreeing to dinner, or made her want to not spend time with John. He was a little rough around the edges maybe, but he was trying and that was something.

So there she was at his door once more, this time without plates and bottles and all the things she'd had the last time she'd been there. Just her on her own. Maybe she'd run the brush through her hair just a few more times than usual that evening, but she was allowed.

There wasn't really anymore Pyro had to say on that specific topic. The one where they kept thinking of and circling back to. How much time did they have and such. The truth of the situation was what it was, and that really was just it. Pyro planned to make as much of his time with Kitty as good as possible, until he was dead again. That was his truth in the matter.

"You obviously knew him much better than I." John admitted. "I just know him from my side, though.." Pyro paused as he considered his thoughts. "I can't imagine him being that terrible. X-Men and the Brotherhood had similar goals and ideals. Just one was..." He shrugged. "Well, me." He admitted more easily instead of calling it all evil. That was like beating a dead horse. The Brotherhood did some incredibly distasteful things, some Pyro weren't too keen to be proud of this time around.

When he felt her again under the table, he couldn't help his reaction, his eyes drifted down towards the table as if he could see through it. Any of his abilities he was still using was lost due to the distraction and the candles returned to normal. A low smile crossed John's lips as he refocused on Kitty. "Kitty, are you insinuating that I might be actually sweet." He feigned shock. "The nerve. No one would believe you anyway." His smirk grew.

"I don't know that any of us ever actually knew him." She admitted, it was something she was learning more and more the older she got. He'd felt like a mentor, something of a father figure, someone who cared for them and mutants everywhere, but she was learning that Xavier was not that simple. And he'd made choices that Kitty had no idea how he lived with and hid things from them leaving them to deal with them after he'd been killed.

But she didn't want to get into all of that with John, it was stupid and debating the morality of Charles Xavier was something she'd done enough of since his death to last her a lifetime. Instead she'd much rather focus on tonight, on John and his nearness and what they were building together out here in the open rather than hidden the way so much about her life had been before she came here.

Kitty managed to keep her face relatively innocent despite the smile that crossed her face as John looked down at the table when she'd touched him. As if he had the ability to see through the table top. "I don't know." She said thoughtfully, "I think a case could be made for you being sweet." Especially here, especially after tonight. "And well - people usually believe me when I say things." She added with a teasing smirk of her own, her foot sliding just a bit higher along his calf.

John smiled a slight smile. "I didn't really know him at all." Truthfully. Though if he was a betting man, and John was on occasion, he would bet that Xavier knew all about him. It just seemed he was that type of man. Though, Xavier seemed like a man who was good all the way around, despite John's own personal beliefs at the time.

John wasn't even one to debate morality of anyone. Who was he to judge. Have you met him? He was a terrible person, who did absolutely terrible things. What John believed in, was doing what you think is right in the now. It just happened that his morality of the right thing to do was somewhat looser than most. Like earlier with Carol when he incinerated an entire alien prison ward in a blink of an eye. Or when his fury lit up the individuals in that fucked up world with Kitty.

Granted, it was life or death. In both instances, but he could of taken better care not to kill people. Possibly.

John caught the sly smile of innocence on her face as he felt her foot slide further up. The look in his eyes danced dangerously in the candle light. "Kitty Pryde. How dare you. Slander." He said with a chuckle. "I am nothing of the sort." Though his arguing the fact was there, his tone said the opposite.

It was - well Kitty wouldn't say it was better that John didn't know Xavier, he'd done a lot of good for her and the other X-Men in the time that he'd been alive, but really he was a complicated man and the more she grew and learned the more she saw that - but really it was probably a good thing that John didn't have to be disappointed by him the way so many of them had. But really he was better left in the past, especially here int his place, they didn't have to bring him up.

Kitty really did think John was right about living for the time they had here, making the most of it before they were either pulled back to their own lives or any other option that might just end what they were building here. And that meant leaving the past there, in the past rather than trying to recall it here and now.

She liked teasing John, both as they talked and as she let her foot slide up along his calf as they talked, all while maintaining a mostly innocent look on her face. "I think this dinner might just suggest otherwise." She said her hand raised like she was making very good point. "And as you know, I am one of the good guys, so it's a verifiable fact that I never lie." She teased him, "So really I think if I've said it, it really has to be true."

It had been a while since she'd done anything like this, not since... well not since Peter actually. But it felt different with John, maybe because of who he had been, who she was, or maybe just something else. Whatever the reason it had her biting her lower lip lightly as she smiled at him.

There was many things that John knew, like kids were stupid and yolo should be eradicated from existence. There were even more things that John didn't know, and would love to learn. There were things that John felt, like his general disdain towards much of the human population and hatred for people, present company excluded. Though the one thing, that John knew at this very moment, in his life as dead as it technically was, that he enjoyed his time with Kitty and that he wanted to do it more often than not. She made this place tolerable.

The table was very inconveniently between the pair of them, and that annoyed John. With her foot pressed on his leg and keeping his attention firmly planted on her, John only could smile to her innocent look. Which, he knew she knew it too. "Oh this dinner, was more for me than you." Pyro quickly said. "I mean, I don't do romance or stuff." He made a fake face of disgust. "I mean, that sounds nothing like me!" He laugh softly. "You call yourself a good guy, but you keep slandering my terrible name. How dare you." John let his smirk float there for a moment.

Then his eyes caught the ever so slight bite of her lip with her smile. John couldn't stop himself. He slid back in the chair and stood up suddenly. Around the table he went and right up to her with little discourse. With both hands he placed both of his hands on both sides of her face, he leaned down and pressed his mouth to hers in something that was possibly a desperate for her kiss. After a moment, he broke the kiss and just simply whispered.

"Okay. Maybe I'm not quite the lady I thought I was."

She had a response to that, she'd have gone on teasing just like that, both with their conversation as well as with the easy press of her foot against his leg, enjoying the way he looked at her with complete awareness even as she maintained the innocence on her face.

It was so different from how she'd let herself get to know some of the others she had let herself fall for in the past. And while Kitty might not say she was falling just yet, she was definitely interested.

So when John was suddenly on his feet and around the table to press his mouth to hers, there was no hesitance in meeting the kiss. After all this had been the direction they'd been going, hadn't it? It felt that way as she leaned into the kiss.

"I knew it," She teased, reaching up to run her fingers through his hair and pulled him into another kiss, soft and sweet, despite her teasing she liked it sweet to start at least.

There was a swirl of emotions in John. Most of it was fluttery butterflies in his stomach, but he ignored those feelings mostly. Though Pyro loved how her lips felt on his immensely.

Feeling her fingers through his hair only pulled a soft purr from John as she pulled him into another kiss which he was happily eager to meet on his own. And there it was, those metaphorical fireworks in his head. The talking and teasing leading to this moment was well paid off. Not that he would of complained if he kissed her sooner, but this was just fine for him. It wasn't too fast, nor too slow. They were going absolutely at their pace for what ever this was.

Keeping his lips to hers, he mumbled softly. "I like you." He pressed another kiss between his words. "You don't suck." John smiled against her mouth.

He kissed so nicely too, further confirming his sweetness, but Kitty would tease him about that later - when she wasn't busy pressing her mouth to his.

She smiled when he spoke against her mouth, telling her what he felt between kisses until she was laughing. Just for a moment, bright and warm as she pulled back from him just enough to take a look at his face and shake her head at him.

"I don't know if you've noticed," She pulled him back for another kiss, "But I kind of like you too." She teased him, smiling as she deepened the kiss just a little bit more, teeth catching ever so briefly against his lower lip as she kissed him slowly and carefully. It was turning out to be a very nice night, her nerves earlier in the evening all but forgotten and instead entirely at ease with John and what they were doing here and now.

John was wrapped up in the moment to realize any single thing particular. It was as if everything around him sort of drifted away. The the dull pain and headache from getting kicked not important, or even that they were trapped in some were dimension.

With her laugh John felt a warmth in him. The way she looked at him. Had anyone ever actually looked at him in a similar manner before. He wasn't overly sure at this point. Though Kitty looking at him, with those eyes. He liked it.

With a smile he returned the first kiss, though as he was about to respond he found himself in another kiss that was enough to knock him off his feet. With her teeth grazing his lower lip with that light tug, there was just a simple happy moan from John. This woman did such wonderfully terrible things to him, that John was thrilled with how this evening was going. "I, um, I think I can see that." Pyro chuckled softly. "I might be very well aware on your feelings.

Kitty couldn't help but echo that soft laugh of his, they were probably at a point that they should take a breath. "Well that's good," She teased, reaching for his hand and letting her fingers tangle with his just a little rather than going for another kiss. "I'd hate to think after all that my feelings were still difficult to read."

It was just nice, to feel like she wasn't going to have to be worried about some new threat pulling her away every second that she spent with John. And after the way things had gone with Piotr - well that was kind of exactly what she needed whether John knew or not.

"What do you think about going and sitting out by that fire of yours again while we finish the wine?" She suggested, that had been a fun night the last time they'd done that, regardless of how it started, and well, she kind of liked the idea of a dark night and a warm fire and John right there with her. "Unless you had a few other plans for tonight."

Breathing was overrated. Pyro wouldn't mind suffocating just a little to keep kissing her, not that he'd admit that. That was insane after all. The way her fingers weaved with his, and the soft feel of her hands made him glance at their hands combined. There was a lot going on in his head, that John knew he'd have to work through. Nothing bad, but particularly what all this meant. It wasn't like he bounced into intimacy very well. "Well, I think you're absolutely crystal clear, Kitty." John said with a smile. "I'm pretty slow, but even I can get this one!" He laughed lightly.

Though the greatest thing about them, and this was the fact that he didn't have to worry about the Brotherhood pulling him away from her to do something that she'd disapprove of and all this would be ruined. It was just them, and that was all he needed. Though, he'd have to figure out that intimacy thing.

Looking over towards the backdoor, he smirked. That was when she came to cheer him up, and they drank well into the night and danced. That was just the thing he really needed, and she took upon herself to deliver. She was truly too good for him. "I think that would make for a nice way for us to finish the night." John looked to her. "I've been told I'm real good at starting a fire." He touted with a smile. One quick kiss to her mouth, and he moved from her. "You head on out, and I'll be right there." Sliding from her he went and fetched a throw blanket, just in case, and then using his abilities, he pulled out the fire from the candles to his hand and once stepping out the back door, he tossed the flame into the fire pit of his engulfing the flames.

"I got you a blanket, just in case." He offered unsure how to present it.

They could do this, Kitty decided, they had both taken the time to be open about what they were feeling, there would be more chances for that of course, but this was a good first step. And when John teased that he could be good at making a fire, well Kitty just laughed softly. "I'll be out there." She promised.

Letting him go and take care of a few things, Kitty made her way out back once more, to the same spot where she and John had their last very good night, it had been fun, despite the rocky start. She'd laughed and danced and for a little while forgotten all about all the things that normally filled her mind with worry every day. And instead she just let herself have fun, with Pyro of all people. He was such a surprise.

And when he offered her a throw, she couldn't help but smile in the warm light of the fire. "Here," She reached out for it to take it from him, "Sit down," She nodded toward one of the chairs, and after he did, she sat with him, pulling the throw over them both, though they probably wouldn't need it - the night wasn't too cold and with the fire he'd created for them she thought they'd have been more than fine. But this was nice, the solid press of his body, and the warmth of both the fire and the throw. Kitty smiled, satisfied with everything and she let herself lean against his chest and rest her head on his shoulder.

The moment that Kitty shifted and sat with him, he knew, he just simply knew they'd be just fine. The warmth of her body against his just told him everything he needed to know.

While they settled in, John watched the flames while letting his fingers trail through the locks of hair on Kitty's head. Just simple smooth motions. His mind dancing through the thoughts of the night and the days to come. Things were so incredibly different here, and the fact that if they were back where they came from... not only would they have been enemies but also he'd not exist anymore.

This place was... paradise? Heaven? Wonderful? Pyro didn't know what to call the place in his own words, but the one thing he knew, is he didn't want to leave. The things here and the people, or person, that were here. This was he needed.

"Thank you for such an incredible night." John said suddenly. The way the night went wasn't as he expected, but it was as he hoped deep down.
