WHO: James and Sirius
WHAT: Hanging out?
WHERE: Their place?
WHEN: Late May (Todayish?)
RATING: TBD

It'd been four days since James found himself in this strange place--having apparated here accidentally(?) on Dumbledore's orders--and he was still reeling. Of course, his friends had tried their best to explain to him what this place was, but the whole thing was outlandish. But, this place wasn't so bad. James had his best friends around, and what more could a bloke ask for, really? After they came to pick him up in the courtyard, James had followed them home and moved in with Remus and Sirius. The last few days were filled with James spending all of his time trying to wrap his head around this place, exploring, and trying to figure out what his next moves were. The fact that Sirius was here with him made all of this so much easier, but he was still struggling a little.

James was on the sofa, fiddling around with the phone. It was magnificent, just like Sirius had claimed, and had captured his whole attention. He didn't hear when his friend came into the room.

Sirius had never done well with being ignored, even if it was for a magnificent reason. So when he'd said James' name several times and gotten zero response for his troubles, he had to stand there for a moment just to pout internally and externally. Full body pouting, that was what this was.

Mind, he couldn't be too angry. Because James was here and that was better than the alternative, especially since he and Remus had lived through both of those options since arriving here. It wasn't any fun, frankly, being without James.

Anyway, Sirius did what any sane wizard might do in a time like this, in order to be properly paid attention to: he vaulted over the couch in order to jump on his friend. "Proonnnngs!"

There wasn't a single person in the world who could full body pout better than Sirius Black. If James had seen it, he would have been impressed. Mind, he was too busy trying to figure out how to get the little bird to knock over all the little pigs on sticks. The game was both incredibly addicting and ceaselessly frustrating.

The red, triangular bird was flying through the air when a large, Sirius-shaped person came flying over the back of the sofa. James gave a rather undignified yelp as his best friend pounced on top of him. His phone fell out of his hand and slide across the floor.

"Oof! What in the world--??" James somehow managed, though a grin was spreading across his lips.

James was only lucky that Sirius had been kind enough to trade off things onto that phone that he'd downloaded when he'd gone through the Doors, otherwise he would have been stuck with nothing but text and photo capabilities, and maybe some of those picture things. Emoties? Something like that. Sirius couldn't quite remember, even though they were fairly delightful.

"What do you mean what?" Sirius asked, feigning outrage even as he flopped more heavily over his friend. It was not the same sort of sprawl that he might use on Remus, with whom he shared a Thing. But instead, just a wholly encompassing sort of playfulness and need to be as ridiculous as humanly possible.

It felt especially important just now, with James just arrived and all. There were still things to tell him. About the future. "I can't believe you're just going to play on your phone. We could be having brilliant adventures."

"What do you mean what do I mean what?" James asked, his voice a little strained as his best friend flopped even more heavily on him. He was grinning, though, his glasses askew. It was the sort of thing that only Sirius was allowed to do.

"I'll have you know that this phone is a brilliant adventure to some of us. To the ones who haven't been here for months and been hogging the damn place," James teased. He gave his friend a little shove so they could sit up.

"... but all right, I'll bite. What sort of adventures? What has this place got to offer?"

"Exactly what it sounds like I mean," Sirius said, as if it was obvious. Which it was. Sirius never said anything remotely confusing to anyone, after all. That wasn't a thing he could possibly do.

He sat up when James shoved him hard enough though, squirming his way onto the bit of the couch that wasn't being taken up by his friend. "Well, the town in general hasn't got overly much. There's a coffee shop, a clothes shop, and a bar." Annnnd that was about it, actually.

"But the Doors? You're going to like those."

"Which doors?" James asked. He wasn't doing a very good job of hiding his disappointment in the idea that the town only had three shops. The bar was promising, but... Well, they'd have to find something to do.

"The doors on the bar? Because I feel like I could get behind doors like that, if you catch my drift."

"I don't catch your drift, because that is a very bad joke," Sirius said, heaving out a sigh that was very put upon, because apparently this was what he would have to deal with now.

Mind, he loved it and would not have it any other way. The alternative was no James at all, and that simply wouldn't do. Couldn't do. Sirius literally could not handle the thought of it anymore.

"Not the door on the bar. There's like, a house? It's got all these doors. They open up to different places. It's wild."

James frowned forcefully and playfully. "Why didn't you lead with that? Padfoot, mate, you've got to start with the right information. Who cares about a bar when there's a house with doors to different places in it?"

And with that he was on his feet.

"You're taking me there right this second."

"The bar doesn't decide to try and kill you every now and again," Sirius pointed out with a shrug, although he totally got it and agreed. He'd started out wrong. Best to just get to all the danger and excitement now, lest everyone get bored. And there was no fun in that at all.

"Oh fine," he said, pushing himself up to standing too. "Have your wand on you! And your sneakers tied, all the important stuff."

"The doors decide to try and kill you?" James asked. His smile faded just a tiny bit at that idea. Just a tiny bit. Then he shrugged one shoulder.

"I always do. Safely in my pocket." He said, and tapped his side pocket. The wand was safe in there--not in his back pocket, lest he lose a buttock. "And my trainers are tied. What do you take me for, some kind of heathen?" James grinned at his friend. "Lead the way."

"Well, not exactly. What's behind them might try and kill you. It's all very random. No telling what you'll get when you open one." But hey, if he was going to be nonchalant about it, so was Sirius. At least some of them needed to be -- Remus was pretty four square against the doors. Which, well, Sirius got. But for the fact that he also thought they were a romp. And they'd been good for figuring out the furry problem.

"Sometimes you are," Sirius said siriously. Because he could do things like that. "C'mon."

So he lead the way, out the house and toward the edge of town that was practically all wooded, but for the House. While they walked he chattered about this and that and did not think even once about asking exactly when James was from or what because he didn't want to get into it. Not right now. "So here it is," he said, opening up the front door to wander inside, where there were doors and doors and a flight of stairs. More doors up there, even. "Wanna pick?"

James gave a noncommittal noise, more like a grunt, at that explanation. He was pretty sure they could handle almost anything. There was no fear, only excitement and understanding behind that grunt. "Then I think we'll have to open all of them."

It almost felt like old times--back at Hogwarts when Sirius and James ran around under James's invisibility cloak, causing all kinds of mischief and staying out well past curfew. Only, they were a lot bigger now, and wouldn't fit under the cloak together anymore. And this wasn't Hogwarts.

"Well, then." James slowly looked around the room with all the doors, and a smirk tugged up one corner of his lips. "Absolutely I do. So long as you won't blame me if we end up face to face with something dangerous."

Of course they'd have to open all of them. Probably even more than once. The options were limitless, even behind only one door. But Sirius was fond of excess and he knew James was too. They were similar in ways that they weren't with Remus, like two brothers ready to go on idiot quests with one another. And it was good. Would be good. Now that James was here again. Here and alive. The two things that mattered most.

Sirius grinned, a flash of charm and white teeth. "I think something dangerous would be good fun, Prongs."

And then he opened the first of many doors.

Dangerous would, indeed, be good. James matched the dazzling smile with one of his own, then drew his wand from his pocket and nodded.

There would be many doors and many adventures. And this was only the first.
