He said she was incredible and she shook her head, about to roll her eyes and look away before he stared his story. The truth was hse sort of hated herself. How could she abandon Maria and Monica like that? Again? She had meant to come back, but...that was another regret. Another drink. It was better to move on and listen.
As she listened to his story, her expression was unreadable. She understood the motivations that would bring him to make such a trade, and she could tell that he had been somehow in love with this girl. She also knew a thing or two about how it felt to burn from the inside out, even if she never died from it.
"Sounds like you got your revenge." She said finally, quietly nodding toward him. "And she's alive, at least." A faint smile, trying to cheer him up. If only a little.
"But yeah....sometimes doing what you think is the best thing for all can really, really suck." She finished her cup. She was going to say it was her last for the night. She'd lost count and she was definitely drunk- two nights in a row now. Tomorrow's hangover would be horrific.
