Who: Anyone who wants to come by
What: Grand-opening party!
Where: Pancho's Bar
When: Friday Night

The streamers were up (because Jan had insisted), and the bar was as ready as it ever would be. Alcohol was stored in a few make-shift shelves on the back wall and a relatively well-cobbled together bar was freshly polished and ready to go. It wasn't the most well-put-together, place, but Pancho's definitely resembled its namesake in terms of dim lighting, chipped tables and a floor that looked like it should be sticky. All in all, Carol was pretty proud of what they'd made. The minifridge was even a good choice since it allowed them to keep some drinks cold (they were going to have to find a larger one in the future, though).

She had warned Peter that the pizza oven needed to be ready by that evening, but she wasn't sure how on the ball with that he was. She'd been busy doing damage control on some electrical issues they were having with the fridge and double checking to make sure they actually had drinking cups (that took a little bit of maneuvering, but Clint came through with the coffee mugs). Yup, vodka from coffee mugs, a mini-fridge filled with a variety of stolen beers, and mismatched chairs. And, of course, the balloons. The annoying, awful squeaky balloons that had floated into a couple of corners of the room, save for the two that kept dragging on the floor and that Carol dreaded would pop at some point that evening. Definitely professional.

Karaoke was set up in one corner of the room with a make-shift stage and Christmas lights (Yes, more Christmas lights) decorating around it. Old 80s rock music blasted from the speakers for now, and Carol stood behind the bar, ready to serve as needed but more than willing to drag anyone else into the position should they so choose that evening.

Thirteen | Rose :: Can you get drunk?

The Doctor always had a very fast paced mind, and Rose could only nod her head and then shrug as she went on about this Hamilton. "Rapping? Not so great Doctor, I think you'd be kinda embarrassed." She laughed at the thought though as she followed to the change to Spice Girls. "Haha, right! You'd make a great Sporty Spice Doctor. Although I can see Scary too. You wouldn't want to be Ginger?" She grinned, remembering how disappointed Ten was when he found out he wasn't ginger.

Rose scanned the room as she did, not really knowing a lot of the people in there. She hadn't branched out, kind of isolating herself with the Doctors. But could you blame her? She had spent all her time trying to find the Doctor again and she was rewarded with two.

She should start to reach out more though. She only knew a few things about people, mostly that they seemed to be of a unique make up. "I seem to be the only non-powered person here," she said, taking another sip of her beer. "Have you talked to any of these guys?"

"I would, but I didn't want to be so obvious about it." She grinned when talking about the Spice Girls. "Y'know, less predictable and all."

"You're not. Technically. He doesn't have any powers." The Doctor nodded to the very drunk Tony Stark sitting at the bar. "I don't think. He has a mechanical suit or somethin' like that. And um...that one doesn't actually do anything but shoot arrows? So, see? You're never alone!"

Had she talked to them. Sort of? The Doctor considered. "On an' off, I mean, when I've had time. I went through the portal with a man named Loki- that was an interesting adventure! Though I think it'd be good to get to know the rest of the population, don't you think?"

Right, like the Doctor had to worry about becoming predictable. Rose laughed into her bottle, turning to look out at the rest of the party. Her eyes followed as the Doctor pointed to various people and she tilted her head to look at them. "Yeah, alright. Still, lots of people with powers and stuff. It's like some kinda superhero movie!" She laughed for just a moment before she frowned and took a long drink of her beer. She thought back to the convention they had gone to together and that strange coincidence.

"Right as always, Doctor." Rose tipped her bottle towards her. She should reach out to some more people. It didn't look like they were getting home anytime soon. May as well get to know the neighbors.

"Is it weird? Being without the TARDIS?" She turned to look at the Doctor, wondering if it had been an easy adjustment.

The Doctor considered the description and nodded. "It is. But then again, we travel through time and space and most people would consider that science fiction." Perspective! It was all about perspective, wasn't it?

"A bit. But it's not the first time- wait did I ever tell you about that? Maybe I didn't. I lived without my TARDIS for a little while on Earth. And I lost it when I first changed to this face." That was a doozy. "It's just sort of rubbish I lost it again after just gettin' it back."

She shook her head. Needed to concentrate on the bright side. "She'll turn up! By the way, have you seen 10 recently?" She was starting to get a little worried because she hadn't seen him in ages. It wasn't like her to stay hidden for so long, even back then. But she didn't want to worry Rose about that.

Alright, Rose had to hand it to the Doctor. Always able to put a better spin on it, although, really, it was sorta the same thing. Rose appreciated the correction nonetheless, figuring it was better to not think on it.

Rose hadn't heard that story and raised her eyebrows. "What's the longest you've ever been without it?" she asked, wondering if they would see that familiar blue box in the near future. "And what does your TARDIS look like?"

When she brought up Ten, Rose glanced down at her half empty bottle. "I haven't," she said, a bit glum. "I keep checking his room, but he doesn't seem to be there." She wouldn't be surprised if he had just up and gone on his own adventure, but he usually brought her along or at least checked in. Rose hadn't heard of anyone leaving this place before, but was it possible? Had he found a way and was back home? Separated again.

"I'm sure he's just out and about," she said, catching Thirteen's eye and smiling. "Maybe he'll show up tonight!"

"Um...300 years. On Trenzalor. That was hard." She took a drink as she remembered it. "I mean, I had it on Earth when I was my 3rd, but then I didn't use her as much. I was challenging myself to go without, I think. See if I could. It was boring, though."

"Oh! She's brilliant- beautiful and blue. Lots of crystals all over and very shiny- and a biscuit dispenser!" Yes, she really loved her TARDIS. A lot. Course every Doctor loved their TARDIS, didn't they?

"Maybe..." She smiled, but under that smile was something else. Doubt. She couldn't imagine just leaving like that- especially leaving Rose. Another drink and she shook her head. "M'sure it's fine!" It seemed to be her catch-phrase lately.

“Sounds kind of boring,” she echoed her thoughts. “I mean, you’re the Doctor! You can’t be without your TARDIS!” She remembered the few moments she had seen the Doctor with his TARDIS and she couldn’t imagine him (or her) without it. Still, it also seemed like the Doctor to give themself a ridiculous challenge like that, just to see if they could. Still, she figured the Doctor would get bored without it sooner rather than later.

“Crystals and a biscuit dispenser?” Rose tried to imagine but her mind kept going back to the TARDIS she remembered. “Is my room still there?” Probably being used by one of the other companions, but she wondered if some of her clothes might still be on board. Was that weird? “And the pool? I remember never being able to find it, so I just wore my bathing suit under my clothes for a bit of time.” Ridiculous, but she actually had. She had become fairly familiar with the TARDIS layout, but for whatever reason, the pool seemed to be the one room that continued to evade her.

Rose tried to give her a reassuring smile back, but she wasn’t sure how convincing it was. So she slammed back the rest of her drink, setting the empty bottle on the table and glanced towards the karaoke machine. “Whaddya say Doctor? Ready to get our groove on?”

"It was. Most of the time, it was." The Doctor smiled, but it was probably obvious something behind her eyes was different. She was hiding stories about what she'd been through on Trenzalor, things that Rose didn't need to know. Not now, perhaps never. Changing the subject was good.

Yes. Talking about the now (or closer to now) was best! "Oh! I'd have to check, the rooms tend to shift around a bit each time. There's still a pool- I think. Somewhere? I hope. Haven't found it just yet." Poor Rose. The Doctor remembered that fact fondly, smiling and leaning back against her seat.

And then, Rose was turning her attention to the machine and 13 had to remind herself what Rose was talking about. "Groovin' is good. i'm good at groovin'. Sometimes. But yes! Are you ready?" She grinned, happy to focus on current activities and situations. Sometimes it was better that way.
