Who: Anyone who wants to come by
What: Grand-opening party!
Where: Pancho's Bar
When: Friday Night

The streamers were up (because Jan had insisted), and the bar was as ready as it ever would be. Alcohol was stored in a few make-shift shelves on the back wall and a relatively well-cobbled together bar was freshly polished and ready to go. It wasn't the most well-put-together, place, but Pancho's definitely resembled its namesake in terms of dim lighting, chipped tables and a floor that looked like it should be sticky. All in all, Carol was pretty proud of what they'd made. The minifridge was even a good choice since it allowed them to keep some drinks cold (they were going to have to find a larger one in the future, though).

She had warned Peter that the pizza oven needed to be ready by that evening, but she wasn't sure how on the ball with that he was. She'd been busy doing damage control on some electrical issues they were having with the fridge and double checking to make sure they actually had drinking cups (that took a little bit of maneuvering, but Clint came through with the coffee mugs). Yup, vodka from coffee mugs, a mini-fridge filled with a variety of stolen beers, and mismatched chairs. And, of course, the balloons. The annoying, awful squeaky balloons that had floated into a couple of corners of the room, save for the two that kept dragging on the floor and that Carol dreaded would pop at some point that evening. Definitely professional.

Karaoke was set up in one corner of the room with a make-shift stage and Christmas lights (Yes, more Christmas lights) decorating around it. Old 80s rock music blasted from the speakers for now, and Carol stood behind the bar, ready to serve as needed but more than willing to drag anyone else into the position should they so choose that evening.

"Yeah, and a partridge in a pear tree." Peter said waving away the whole to Tony thing, it wasn't that important, there where two of him too, it was all really confusing was what he was trying to say. "I mean if anyone stands a shot it's them?" He tried hopefully, because well it had been almost three months and they hadn't figured it out but you know Peter wasn't ready to give up hope totally yet, he was just very aware that time was passing and they were still here.

"I know," Peter said with a sigh, "I know they're gonna worry, that's what parents do." Of course they did, how could they not? But he didn't have a good answer for Miles when it came to how long it'd take.

"I don't - I don't know, man. We're trying, but I don't think there's even really been a good answer for why we got pulled here in the first place let alone a time line to get us home." It had been a lot simpler with Fisk, they knew what had caused it and they had a fairly simple way to reverse it and get everyone back where they belonged, but this - there was no accelerator, no big bad to fight, no goober that was going to make it all right. They were stuck.

"I'm sorry, Miles." This was the last thing he wanted for Miles.

Miles just stared at the bar as it sunk in. This sucked. He sighed, quiet for an unusually long time. This wasn't even like the whole Fisk thing. He had choices then. What choice did he have now?

Nothing. Because either way, here is where he was.

"...I guess it could be worse..." He started slowly, then smiled a little. "At least there's a Gwen?" Yup, he was teasing. Sort of. He looked at Per and nodded.

"We did it before. We can do it again. Right?" He held out a fist for Peter to bump and then nodded. "Sooooo can I get a drink?"

Yeah, Miles was definitely working it out. Peter just let him do it too, didn't try and offer any more condolences because well what else could he say? And let him be the one to speak first.

Peter huffed and nodded, "Yeah, there's a Gwen," He agreed with a smile, "She's great, you'll like her." He promised, because of course Miles would, Gwen was great and well they were spider-people, they'd be fine.

"Yeah," Peter agreed lifting his own hand up for that first bump, "We're gonna figure it out."

"I'll get you a coke," Gwen might have gotten permission, but well Miles was - well he was Miles and Peter wasn't going to be the one to give him his first drink.

"A rum and Coke??" Miles was trying. He smiled a little too eagerly, hoping it might work. Knowing it probably wouldn't.

"I could've sworn I saw Gwen with a real drink, and she's not that much older than me- wait, is she that much older than me? This Gwen, I mean." Miles looked around for her, no longer as worried. At least this Gwen hadn't lost half of her hair when he couldn't stop sticking to stuff.

In reality, Miles was still in shock. He was trying his best to just let it all settle in. He didn't even know where he was sleeping tonight, but he'd figure that out later. He hoped. Maybe on the bar? Peter had a place, right?

"Nice try," Peter huffed shaking his head and sliding Miles a glass of coke rather than the alcohol he'd been trying for.

Peter raised an eyebrow when he mentioned Gwen having a real drink, "You'll have to ask her what she's been drinking." He said evasively and then paused considering how old she was, "I don't think she's older than the other Gwen. But I think that means she's still older than you my friend."

It was a lot to take in, Peter knew and Miles wasn't going to be fine just because he looked okay right now, but they'd figure it out right?

"Look we're gonna get you taken care of, there'll be a phone for you somewhere around here, and if you want your own place you can have it, but I've got space too." He added, because of course he'd make room for Miles if he wanted it. "It's your choice, but this is going to be okay."

Miles made a face, but sighed and sipped the coke. It was better than nothing, after all. And at the mention that this Gwen was even older, Miles felt a little awkward but nodded. "But I'm not like the youngest here...am I?" He really hoped that wasn't the case. That would be weird. Weirder. Things were weird enough already!

"My own place??" He didn't even think about that, but...yeah. Yeah! That might not be so bad. No roommate, and no mom to tell him to go to bed. "And what kinda phone? I have a phone- it just doesn't work."

Miles looked around the bar again. Most of the furniture looked cobbled together and he was almost afraid to ask any more questions. He was tired. Taking another drink of soda, Miles dared to ask. "Maybe I can stay with you? Just the first night or two. Would that be cool?"

"Ummm...." Peter actually wasn't sure about that, because that other Peter Parker, he was pretty young too, those spiders like to start out young after all. "We'll have to find the other Peter and ask him how old he is to be sure, but.... you might be."

The thought of his own place didn't seem to be a terrible one for Miles, so that was something. "I mean if you want it, you don't have to live on your own." Peter might not be a great roommate but no way was he leaving Miles out on his own if he didn't want that. "It's a new phone, everyone gets one when they arrive, it'll let you connect to the local net, so you can get a hold of people, things like that."

There was the issues of the doors too but Peter had already dropped a lot on Miles he wasn't sure he wanted to throw that at him yet too.

"Yeah of course you can, I've got space you can stay as long as you want." He assured him. It was all a little crazy, but you know he knew Miles, so you know if he could offer even a tiny bit of normalcy to him he was gonna do his best to give him that.

MIles didn't look like he liked the sound of that. Far from it. He looked sort of miserable at the idea, groaning at the thought that he was the kid. Again. It wasn't that it was bad being young, but he didn't want people to keep treating him like a baby when he felt capable of handling things himself. Er, for the most part.

"So we can talk to each other, but no one outside of here? Does it get internet??" He hoped that was possible. Oh man, how was he supposed to be without the internet??

"Just for a night or two!" Miles pointed out. Especially tonight, since he literally had no idea where to go. "This is just crazy." He shook his head. Maybe it was a bad dream and he would wake up. Yeah. That was it. HE took a sip of coke and muttered. "I'm gonna wake up and it'll be fine. Back to being a normal, everyday neighborhood boy who was bitten by a radioactive spider and saves the city."

"Don't worry, they know Spider-Man can take care of himself," Peter assured Miles when he groaned at the realization that he might just be the youngest person there with them in Starklandia, but it was true. Enough of the people here knew Spider-Man, so he'd be okay.

Peter shook his head with a sigh, "Nope, it's a closet network by the looks of it, just enough to let us talk to one another but nothing beyond that." It was kind of awful, but maybe it was just because Peter was getting older he didn't hate not being able to get online as much as he thought he might, "I'll show you around tomorrow, when it's light out," He promised.

"Yeah it is," Peter agreed, completely crazy, he didn't try and correct Miles when he suggested that maybe all of this was just a bad dream, maybe it was for Miles, in any case he wasn't going to drop that particular reality bomb on him just yet, he'd wake up here tomorrow and see for himself. Until then though Peter was going to make sure he was as okay as he could be.

"How do you feel about Karaoke?" He asked, just because it was a dream didn't mean they couldn't sing after all.

This didn't sound great. Miles was frowning as he heard there wasn't even any internet. He was frustrated and tired and he hadn't even had dinner! He was moping, looking very much like the 16-year-old boy that he was when Peter suggested karaoke.

Miles just looked at his mentor with a you're kidding me sort of face. "Karaoke?" Seriously? That's when he caught a whiff of it. "Wait...is that pizza??"

It smelled like pizza. And Miles then caught sight of someone eating a slice nearby and his stomach grumbled.

Peter pressed a hand to his chest in mock outrage at the look Miles gave him for his suggestion of karaoke, "You're gonna sing with me," He warned him, maybe not tonight, but it was going to happen, Peter had decided. He and Gwen had gotten a song in together and now he and Miles would too, at some point.

But first there was pizza and yeah maybe he should have offered some of that too with the coke.

"Yeah, lemme get you some," Peter grabbed a couple of slices for Miles and slid them in his direction, "I made it myself," He said feeling very proud of his accomplishment, it hadn't been easy getting everything together for pizza but well, some things were worth the trouble.

"Uh...no. I don't sing in public." He really didn't. He was more self-conscious than that. And he had just gotten here. No WAY was he going to let Iron Man see him look like an idiot. Even if the poor guy looked pretty wasted.

Okay, food was good. And Miles was happy to have something to eat, actually taking a bit. Then another. Okay, he was hungrier than he realized. "You made this??" He looked surprised as he ate but shrugged.

"Okay...so you make pizza and you run a bar- which you still haven't explained." He was staring at the blond woman behind the bar who was chatting with another woman and seemed to be ignoring everyone else for the time being.

"That's not Mary Jane, is it?" She didn't look like the Mary Jane from his universe, but then again this Peter didn't look like his Peter Parker.

"Are you kidding, I've heard you sing, you just do that thing again it'll be great." Peter reminded Miles, "Maybe not tonight, but soon, we're doing karaoke."

Okay yeah, Peter was very proud of the pizza thing, maybe Carol was right, maybe this was some sort of long term plan where he gradually shifted from saving the city to making pizzas, that wasn't insane was it? "It's a long story, but you know there's not anything here-" He waved a hand around to hopefully mean the whole town, "And I wanted some pizza so why not figure out how to make it, you know? And the bar - that just kind of happened by accident," you went out and got drunk once and suddenly you were running your own bar, that's how things worked sometimes.

"Mary Jane?" He asked frowning and then followed Miles' gaze down the bar top to where Carol was talking with someone and then shook his head, "Oh! No, no no no, that is Carol, she had the idea for the bar in the first place, I just helped her pull it off. She's great though, you'll like her."

"That was different. WAY different. There are real life , Avengers, here!" As if that mattered, but it did to Miles, anyway.

"So...you built a pizza oven and a bar by accident?" That sounded shady. Really shady. Miles knew Shady. He shook his head, looking suspicious as he ate his pizza slowly. "I'm gonna find out the real story, you know that, right?"

Again, Miles was just following along as Peter explained who Carol was. "The accidental bar. Got it." He wasn't going to ask any more questions, but he was going to definitely give Peter that I know better than to believe that look.

"Yeah but they're just people like us, it's fine - you'll spend a little time getting to know them and then it'll be fine." Peter waved away Miles worry about embarrassing himself in front of the Avengers, if he was going to be Spider-Man that was just something he was going to have to get used to anyway, might as well start now.

"The pizza oven was on purpose, the bar was by accident." Peter clarified and then raised an eyebrow at Miles who was looking at him with nothing but suspicion, "What real story? The accidental founding of Pancho's bar?"

Miles was clearly not buying it, but well Carol had threatened him with bodily harm if he told where they got the stuff for the bar, so his lips were sealed. "Maybe you wanna ask her how we opened the bar?" Peter suggested unhelpfully.

"That's where you're wrong. They're not just people. They're Avengers. WE are just people. They are gods. One of them is literally a god!" He didn't know how to make that point any more clearer.

"I've never heard of anyone accidentally building a bar before. That must have been some accident." It appeared Miles had inherited his father's sense of dry sarcasm.

"Maybe I will." He then looked at Carol, then looked back at Peter. "Someday. Soon." She was intimidating, and not just because she was attractive. She had that whole Gwen Stacy vibe, but older and somehow even more self-assured.

Then it hit him. "Wait, is that Carol Carol Danvers Carol? Like Captain Marvel Carol?" That would make a lot of sense. He could sort of see it, but with longer hair. He cocked his head to the side and glanced at Peter. "Soooo...you're running an Avengers' bar with Captain Marvel and I'm supposed to ask questions."

"I'm pretty sure he's a demi-god." Peter said shrugging, "Give it some time though, you'll see they're just people." He paused for a beat, "And Spider-Man, we've never been just people."

Peter nodded as sincerely as he could manage while Miles continued to doubt his accidental bar story. "It was pretty crazy, you know the accident, but then we had a bar and well it needed someone to help run it so -" He shrugged. "These things just happen sometimes."

He grinned watching Miles consider whether or not he'd talk to Carol, she could definitely be intimidating, even Peter could feel it off her sometimes, he was fairly certain she wouldn't actually make good on her threats but well, probably best not to test that too much after all.

And then the light switched on for Miles and he chuckled, "That would be the one," He agreed nodding, and then he laughed as Miles summed up the state of the bar as he saw it. "I mean you can ask questions, you can always ask questions, Miles." Though Peter was absolutely sticking to the accidental bar story for the time being, maybe after he showed Miles the house with the doors he'd fill in some of the gaps. "I mean it's a bar for everyone, we have non-Avengers here too."

Miles rolled his eyes. Maybe Peter had forgotten because he'd been doing this for so many years, but to Miles, this was all so new to him. He still idolized the Avengers and even if he did have superpowers, they weren't the same as Thor!

Just happen. He was done asking about it for now because there was already so much to process.

He just quietly ate his pizza and shook his head. Today was crazy. "This is the weirdest dream I've ever had in my life. Man....I'm gonna have some crazy stuff to tell when I wake up tomorrow."

Yup. Denial was easier. He was just going to stick to denial for now.

Peter wasn't worried about it, Miles would come around in time and see the Avengers for what they were - just people doing their best the same way that they were. Sure some of them had crazier powers, or were gifted in different ways, but they were still just people at the end of the day. And Miles was smart enough to see that in time.

For now though it looked like he was going with a different route when it came to processing all of this and Peter decided that would be okay for tonight. They'd talk it out again in the morning, maybe go down to coffee - did Miles drink coffee? How old did you need to be to have coffee and not have it stunt your growth? Man, Peter wished he had the internet.

"Yeah, it's gonna be a pretty epic story." He agreed, the time that Miles wandered into an Avengers bar run by Spider-Man and Captain Marvel and wouldn't sing karaoke. That'd be a pretty great dream actually. As for a reality it was still pretty epic, just in a different harder to process kind of way, but Peter would help as much as he could with that.
