Who: Tony Stark (the cute one) and Janet van Dyne (the cool one)
What: Two best friends forever take on Comic-con
Where: That big old convention
When: April 2

He'd been that first day, because well he couldn't help himself, and he'd even gotten a room because there was a real bed and there was a shower there and all the things from home that he'd missed, minus the cheese fridge but he'd get back to that soon enough. Cheese fridge 2.0. Today though, today he needed to spend it with Jan, now that he knew what was here, and how insane and cool it all was. He had taken the armor back because sure it was fun getting compliments on how awesome it was, it wasn't exactly the most comfortable thing to move around in. So he'd dropped it off at his place and then picked up Jan, towing her along with him back to the convention.

"Jan you are never gonna believe this place, you're going to love it so much." He'd promised her after he'd told her he needed her to come through with him, he was a little less put together than he'd been in the suit, but he was still Iron Man without it, these people though in their costumes needed that to be him. Whatever he needed to stop worrying about what other people thought and focus more on the fun he and Jan were going to have.

"Look, just look at this place." He said as they stepped through the door together." Holding his hand wide to show off like he was somehow responsible for all of this. Which yeah he wasn't, but it didn't mean he was any less pleased to show it off to his best friend.

Tony shrugged when she asked if this meant that someone had been watching them. "I don't know about all of that, maybe Fury was selling the story of what we did at the Academy to someone who turned it into this?" He suggested, or maybe she was right, maybe they had been watched the entire time they'd been at the Academy, or maybe they were all just some sort of creation of the person who wrote these books, but then did that mean that the answer to how to get them back home was in one of these books too? He'd have to see if he could find the last couple of issues of the books that they were in and see if there were answers there before they went home.

He frowned at the guy who had been staring and then demanded payment for the comic they'd been talking over. But the moment passed quickly and Jan was eager to shop and well - Tony couldn't help but agree he'd checked it out the day before with Loki but there was something about buying his own merch in front of Loki - any version of Loki - that had felt a little embarrassing. So he'd held off, knowing he'd bring Jan in next and they could go crazy.

"It's all over the place, we're going to have to check out all the booths and see what they have." He told her, "Come on, I want to get everything." Whether it was Iron Man merch or Wasp stuff, they obviously needed it and you know maybe if he saw something Captain America themed he'd pick it up for Steve.

Fury's actions had always been a hot topic of debate at the Academy and Jan pursed her lips together. As much as she wanted to say he wouldn't do that, she couldn't quite bring herself to argue with Tony. And how could she? Not after he had given her this...well, whatever THIS was! Jan didn't want to worry about having an existential crisis and figured shrugging it off was the best course of action. Trying to explain a different universe usually only brought headaches, so it was better to just kinda go with the flow and not ask too many questions.

Jan couldn't help but laugh, digging her elbow into his ribs a little. "Of course we'll pick something up for Steve." She saw another person dressed up as a version of Steve walk by and she grinned. "I don't think we'll have any trouble." But she followed after him, browsing the tables and picking up anything that might have caught their eye. Which felt like the majority of the convention floor. When else could you find things with your face or symbol on it? True, it was easier to find things for Tony, but Jan would take it. He had had a rough couple of days and she felt like he needed this.

"Did you come in your suit before?" she asked as she followed after him down another line of stalls. "And how much did people freak out over you?" They had already been stopped a few times, some girls (and a few guys) stopping them to comment how much Tony looked like a young Tony Stark. At this point, Jan made sure to offer a picture, stating that he was Tony Stark undercover. She may have gotten a few phone numbers too. Whether they would work once they got back to Starklandia was a whole other story, but at least she was doing her duties as his wingwoman.

"If I shrink, it would freak people out, right?" She pouted a little, wanting to show off, but not sure if these people could handle it. Tony seemed to be right in thinking that this place was SUPER COOL, but it also seemed so ordinary. It looked like regular civilians who just liked to dress up as them, but didn't actually have the powers.

There was a lot that could have gotten under their skin about a place like this, they could spend their time feeling suspicious or they could take advantage of what they had before them, and that's why Tony had brought Jan through with him, so they could marvel at this amazingness together and live it up as much as possible while they could.

His eyes went wide when Jan said they'd get something for Steve, like she'd read his mind. And he wondered if maybe she could for a minute, but then decided no that probably wasn't true - she just knew him way too well. And maybe he looked a little too long at the guy dressed as Steve pass them by. He shook his head they had things to see!

Tony nodded excitedly when she asked if he'd come in his suit before. "I did! It was so great, everyone loved it, they thought it was so cool." He said proudly, because yes it was very cool and he loved when people saw that his work and thought it was as awesome and amazing as he knew it was. "So many people stopped to ask to take my pictures, Jan it was just...." He trailed off with a wistful sort of sigh, he'd loved it so much. Today was different, he could take more than two steps before someone stopped them but this was better. Sure they'd gotten stopped a couple of times, Jan helping field a couple of questions with him and it was fun but it had been nothing like when he'd had the armor on.

"Uh yeah probably, if they think we're fake, they'll probably think tech like that is fake too." He reasoned which was unfortunate. "Everyone just thought my armor was a costume." So he could imagine they'd think the same of Jan too unfortunately. "Maybe we'll find our way into a convention with actual super heroes one day?" He offered.

"I bet you were the star of the show!" How could he not have been? Jan was, of course, his #1 fan, but to be able to have a working suit to show off? She was sure there would be people there that thought it was just a show, that it wasn't actually working, but they would know better. And there was something about that secret and being able to share it between her and Tony that made it all the more exciting. "Decided it was time to go incognito?" She asked, pulling out her pair of sunglasses and putting them on. Because that really made her blend in with everyone else.

As soon as they were on, someone came up and told her she looked like someone...Clara? Jan didn't know who that was, but she snapped a few pictures with them, giving them a moody sort of look, then flashing up a peace symbol with her hands. "Oh, you've got to take a picture with him!" She said, pulling Tony into the frame of the picture. "He's a young Tony Stark!" She had already started to gather that this world was more familiar with the older Tony, which she was sure didn't sit well with her own. Still! Everyone seemed to love Tony, no matter what version you pulled from.

"Now, this," she waved her arms out as the person walked off with a few new photos. "Is the kind of celebrity status I was expecting!" Sure, they got good news coverage when they were at the Academy, but Fury kept them holed up in their own little world that they rarely got to go out and make appearances with the public! Despite this, it seemed their names were well known (well, some of them), so maybe Fury actually knew what he was doing. A long stretch given his need to keep secrets from them, but that was all in the past.

Or their future?

But soon Jan had other things to think about as Tony encouraged her to give her powers a go. Yeah, it made a lot of sense actually when he reasoned. From what she could see, they didn't actually have any powers or even advanced technology that they had, so why not give them a show? But she'd wait for the right opportunity to show off like that.

"That would be even COOLER!" she said, bouncing between stalls and pulling Tony along with her. "That way, we could actually show we're those superheroes and get the real celebrity treatment!" But something had caught her eye and they were off again. "TONY LOOK!" She held up a drawing someone had done of him and Steve together, a tiny little heart between the two of them. Her mouth dropped open, before she closed it, dancing it in her hands. "I think I found my souvenir!"

"Well you know I had a lot of fun yesterday, but I thought today would be best spent with my bff." Tony reasoned, even with the occasional pictures it was much easier to move around just the two of them like this today. It was fun, and he wanted to share this with Jan.

He grinned loving watching Jan enjoy herself like this, people wanting her picture, whether it was because she looked like someone else or because they recognized her as the Wasp, Tony loved seeing her be appreciated by people other than himself, because of course Tony knew that Jan was the coolest, but when other people got that too Tony had a proud sort of feeling that made him want to just stand back and watch, at least until she pulled him into her pictures as well. The two of them finding their angles easily and giving the best poses they knew how to do.

"Right?" He laughed, "I knew you'd love this." He felt proud of this too, being able to show this to Jan.

His eyes went wide though when she suggested actually using his powers, but then she was distracted by something else and Tony was following after her to see what she'd found going bright red as he realized it was a drawing of Steve with him. "Jan!" He hissed quietly, but he reached out for it all the same, looking at it for a moment, taking in the sight of it, of Steve with and the hearts and even him. It was.... well he didn't know what it was and he definitely wasn't blushing when he handed back to her. "The art is nice." He said finally.

"Awwww!" Jan couldn't help but throw herself at Tony as he expressed the sentiment, giving him a kiss on the cheek, arm extended for a selfie as she did so. "You're the best Tony, you know that?" She grinned, looking at her phone to see how the picture came out. "Totes adorbs!" She showed him how it turned out, sad that she didn't have any sort of network to post it to. Unless..."Tony!" She glanced at him, her eyes wide. "Do they have Internet here?!" Would there be a way they could use it? Take it? She started to get so excited that her wings popped out and she started to float above the ground before she realized what she was doing.

"Oops!" She landed back down with a sheepish smile at Tony before glancing around. It didn't seem like anyone else really saw, maybe she hadn't gone as high as she thought?

She smiled at his reaction to the picture, an idea popping into her head for later. She paid the artist before tucking the picture into her bag. "We need to work on some shrink disc," she said as if their agenda wasn't already full of ideas and projects they were working on.

Tony grinned hugely as Jan held out her camera to take a selfie of them, "Another great one," He agreed laughing when she showed him the result. Tony had already been moving on to the next thing when Jan seemed to have an idea, suddenly asking him about the internet. "Uh.... maybe?" He said and frowned pausing for a moment, "I mean, I'm sure they do. Are you having an idea?"

His eyes went wide when he realized that she'd flown just a little for a moment, her excitement catching up to her before she had pulled it back in and landed on her feet again. But it seemed like no one had noticed, at least not enough that they were saying anything.

"Oh now that, that is a brilliant idea." They could bring back anything with them if they got some of that tech working. "That's next on the list yeah?" Well maybe after power and running heated water, but yeah it was going up there above some of the other projects they could be working on. "I don't know that we're going to find anything we can use here to make it but we'll keep an eye out and get what we need."

Jan was having an idea, but she wasn't sure if it was something that would actually be plausible. She flourished in a setting that already had technology, at least the bare minimum that she could build on. She wasn't used to this concept of no technology save for a phone that seemed to only operate on its own network. She really relied on Tony as the brains of the operation and she just flitted around him, helping when she could. Sure, she could come up with her own ideas, but he was the real mastermind.

"Do you think there's a way we could borrow it? Maybe we can sneak in and boost their signal to get through the doorway?" Alright, it seemed like a stretch, but if anyone could do it, it was her and Tony. She knew what a great team they made and was sure if they really wanted to, they could do anything. And Jan REALLY wanted Internet. She wiggled her eyebrows at him, grinning. "Yeah? Possible? Do you think?"

If it wasn't enough to throw at him, he was still considering the idea of what kind of tech they'd need to make the shrink discs. As if she thought there would be a table with gear they would need, Jan glanced around at the tables around them, almost hoping to have something jump out at her that screamed 'SHRINK DISCS'! Really, everything was more of a prop, nothing that was actually useful.

Convention shopping wasn't really like any kind of shopping Jan had done before and it was so easy for her to get distracted by something new. "OOOOH LOOK!" She grabbed his hand and dragged him over to another table, scattered with various Lego mini-figures. "Gwen was just telling me about these!" She looked around as if mentioning their friend's name would make her instantly appear. "I wonder if she found them..." Her eyes scanned the table until they landed on a little Iron Man and she held it up at Tony. "Awwww! So cute!"

He frowned turning over the idea of whether or not this was something they could pull off, it would be nice if they could just plug this internet in somewhere back in Starklandia and that would be it - things would be taken care of from there. But the internet was complex and complicated and far bigger than any one person could build on their own, even him. Maybe give him a few years and he could get there but Tony had grown up in a world where there was internet, where he'd had that foundation to work off of in everything he'd done, building a network like that felt a tiny bit overwhelming.

"I mean.... I don't think we can just take the internet from here and have it back there," He said after a moment having considered all the possibilities. "I think we might be able to take a frame of it?" He said his mind working ahead of his mouth, "Maybe get an idea for a framework and then see if we can't recreate our own. It will take us a while to be able to get it to be anything like this though." He'd probably have to work with Old Tony, probably a few others as well if they were going to make it the sort of thing that worked like it did here.

Shrink disks though, that was the sort of thing Tony thought he and Jan could probably whip up if they put their heads together. "We'll just need to get some stuff, maybe we can raid Old Tony's stash and see what he has we can work with." It was a tease really, at least about stealing, maybe they'd ask Old Tony though.

But for now there were so many things to see, and Jan had found the legos now. He couldn't help the huge grin on his face when she showed him the Iron Man. And sure maybe there were more Iron Man figures and Captain Americas and some other familiar faces but as Tony looked through the figures he found exactly what he was looking for. "Oh now this one, this is the best one." He held up the little Wasp figure showing her off for Jan.

Now, Jan was fairly good with technology. She definitely had her moments, but she never lead the charge like Tony could. She was more there as the assistant, the helpful one who would pop up in the background, recommend re-routing this power source to this, make a few tweaks there, and the system would be up and running. But the actual mastermind was always Tony. So she would go with whatever he thought was best and nodded her head sagely, as if she 100% agreed with him. Well, she totally agreed with him, but she also didn't really know what he meant about taking a frame. But it sounded good and whatever Tony thought he could do, Jan would support him. So she just nodded her head, making a mental note that they would have to figure out how to bring back this frame with them...

But they had more important things to consider, like SHOPPING. Although the thought of raiding older Tony's stash also sounded good. At least they would have options once they got back to Starklandia. So many options! And options were good. It was probably why people didn't like Starklandia from the get go; they felt like there weren't a lot of options, but they were starting to come up with some more. She was actually pretty proud of the community coming together like this...it was easy to fall into this new family.

As Tony held up the Wasp figure she beamed, looking from it to Tony. "It's me! There's actually one of me!" Well, now they just had to great the whole lot of them! "We should get everyone. We can put them on top of the cheese fridge!" A little homage to their friends who hadn't found their way here yet. "I think we're gonna need a bag." Jan just kept picking up the figures, much to the delight of the table owner. "And some fuel after this." She glanced up at her best friend in the whole wide world and grinned. "Hot dogs after?"
