It wasn't like Steve was a fussy guy. He wasn't used to the finer things, he slept where he lay, ate what he had and showered in the courtyard in the cold without complaining, honestly just glad he could shower at all. But that didn't mean that when it came to it he didn't appreciate the luxuries. Like large soft beds, with pillows to match, he was going to have to take the bedding back with him, as much as he could get away with. But better than that was the bathroom.
Plumbing was great.
Whatever was happening downstairs had been a combination of confusing, astounding and terrifying. But this? This hot shower nearly made up for it. The longer he stood the better it seemed to get, the water didn't get cold, it simply streamed over him and he stood there and let his mind wander.
He still wasn't quite sure how he'd come to end up quite here. When he'd been transported there hadn't been anyone around that he could see and then they'd started to come and then, well then there had been Tony half dead and still walking around. Offering him a cleaner, warmer and safer place to stay had been one of the first things they'd discussed and from there Tony had accepted. Their beds lay side by side, off the ground now Steve had built some bases. So when Tony had told him they were going through the door to the place everyone was talking about because he'd got them a proper place to bunk for the night it seemed normal. Safety in numbers. Or maybe Steve was just used to the sound of Tony breathing in the dark beside him.
There wasn't a lot of privacy, two men sharing a room and it wasn't a problem, they both went off and did their own things and it was hardly like Tony could ever stifle Steve by being there. But getting a minute alone in a hot shower with a drain and water that washed away all sins? Okay he was 30something and despite what people said just a man at the end of the day. So one minute turned into ten and it felt good to feel good and relax, who could blame him? It was over pretty quick, but it left him warm even after he turned off the water.
He dried his hair some before he wrapped the towel around him and opened the bathroom door, stepping out into the room as he headed for his clean clothes.
"Argh!" He said as movement caught his eye. "Shit, Tony. I didn't know you were in here," Steve said, having not heard him come in, obviously his head had been elsewhere.
