"The future doesn't seem great," Sirius pointed out a little wryly, because everyone who came from 20whatever seemed pretty wildly messed up. Not that he had any room to talk because only two years from when he was from, it seemed like everything went to shit and never really came back from that. And how could it? A world without James Potter probably wasn't any kind of world at all.
"Your dad gave you numbers for names?" Sirius asked, a little wary, because -- that sounded even worse than his parents. Mind, his family traded the same five names or so down multiple generations so it was quite possibly the same damned thing. He wasn't sure though. Either way, it didn't sound great, and Sirius got that. And there was nothing better than two perfect strangers bonding over bad parenting.
"S'possible they'll show up? Later? Sometimes that happens. Different times, or different pacing or whatever. Wouldn't worry about it too much, mate. Howzabout in the mean time we find you a flat? And a telly-phone. Those're brilliant."
