WHO: Remus Lupin & Sirius Black WHAT: It's Moony's birthday! WHERE: The House of WolfStar WHEN: March 10 RATING: Mischief Managed
Birthdays were kind of a tricky subject for Remus. He'd never really liked being the center of attention in any scenario but he did like spending time with the people he cared about and you know, perfect excuse to eat a lot of chocolate cake. It was hard to believe this would actually be his third birthday spent in this town. The first, well, he'd not really told anyone but when he'd arrived in Starklandia, it'd been his birthday back home. And honestly, arriving in town was probably the best gift he could've received, as selfish as that sounded. Back where he came from, he would've been left alone on his birthday after having survived a war his best friends perished in and the love of his life sentenced to prison. It wasn't a happy birthday situation to say the least. So he hadn't really counted that birthday, especially since his birthday fell on the Starklandia calendar so soon after that. Now a year had passed since then and he was still there, still thriving, still living happily side by side with Sirius.
He hadn't made a fuss about it. Truly, he just was happy to go about his day as if it was any other. Especially since the full moon had been the night before. Remus had taken some of the remaining wolfsbane potion he'd been rationing ever since being gifted with it several months ago. Some months he took it, others he did not. But he thought since it was the night before his birthday, he'd prefer not to wind up beating himself up or Padfoot overnight. What that meant was, the wolf and the dog got to play all night in the forest, chasing each other and play-rough housing, and warm cuddles when they grew tired.
But as they were up all night, that meant they slept in late on Remus' actual birthday. Remus was still tired when he actually opened his eyes, no idea what time it was. They'd made their way back from the forest after first light, and promptly fell asleep together. At least they weren't banged up this time. That potion, although it tasted absolutely horrible, really worked. Rather than move, Remus stayed right where he was with his head tucked under Sirius' chin and his arm draped over his stomach. Happy Birthday, indeed. He'd get up to make chocolate chip pancakes eventually.
