WHO: Loki and Thor
WHAT: The Tethering is over.
WHERE: Fjord.
WHEN: This second, right now. Whoaa

The last week had been — well. Bad, obviously. Loki didn’t like to be stuck in one place for any reason and very much valued her freedoms. She had always been like that, the sort to slip away without a word and stay gone for just as long as she pleased before showing up again (sometimes without a word, and other times with dramatic flair).

But, she supposed, as far as annoying partners went, Pyro hadn’t been the absolute worst. He cleaned after he cooked, took the threats of stabbing seriously (as he should have) and Loki had gotten to exact a good deal of revenge on Thor for having pissed her off prior by hanging around on St. John whilst wearing as little as possible whenever Thor showed up (the idiot Quill in tow).

It was over now though, and she supposed at some point she’d have to deal with Thor in the same room, alone this time.

Still, for now, the roof was a better option, and so there she sat, hugging her knees and gazing out at the new view their home offered, water crashing against craggy rocks. It even smelled nicer here than it did in town, she supposed. Salty, like the ocean, and the breeze carried it well.

Of course Thor wanted fair, but he didn't expect to get it from Loki. He'd strive for it, but end up taking what he could get in the end. In this case, it was a smattering of jealousy and annoyance. He hated how it made him feel when she was prancing around with that other man. It wasn't like he possessed Loki; she could do whatever she wanted (within reason; mass destruction/murder was off the table without a fight). But they'd struck up something between them; an understanding of their feelings even if they didn't actually say it.

More than just being angry? He missed her. Thor missed annoying the ever living shit out of Loki and getting into bickering messes that ended up in cuddles and kisses behind closed doors, or something far more intimate that broke beds and splintered walls.

Thor lowered down to kneel near her. "Do you hate me still?"

They had struck something up, and while Loki had toed at the line in order to be cruel and a little chaotic, she hadn't actually done anything with Pyro -- save allow him to use her kitchen, since he actually cleaned up and it kept him entertained for times long enough where Loki could feel less bothered.

She never would have done anything else. Even Loki wasn't interested in the kind of chaos that would bring.

But then Thor was kneeling down close and Loki shifted in order to face him more properly. "Don't be stupid," he said, but it held no edge of heat. "I have rarely ever truly hated you, and I don't think it would happen again now." No. Thor was her anchor. The only person she had never felt resentment toward for keeping her grounded.

Thor hadn't wanted to believe that Loki would do anything with that Pyro person that crossed the line. Granted, it would be her right if she so pleased. They'd never set boundaries, and neither of them were very good with that term anyway. Still, Thor didn't think Loki would do that; something that would cause him actual pain.

Stabbings, yelling at each other, fighting, mindless bickering, thunderstorms, one-upping, all of that was regular behavior that they were used to and none of it really hurt (give or take the stabbing). But Thor was pretty sure Loki knew that if she did something with someone else -- the sort of something that they privately engaged in, that would hurt him in a way that would be difficult to come back from. And though he knew Loki was furious with him, he didn't think she'd do that.

A small smile pulled at the edge of his lips when Loki confirmed she did not hate him. He lifted a hand to touch the side of her face. "Then come closer," he beckoned in a low voice. "For it has been far too long since you've been near."

She wouldn't do that. Not only because Loki was self aware enough to know when going too far would ruin things for even herself. It had been a lesson hard learned in the past, but she'd still eventually learned it. It was best to keep from being too self destructive, considering all the loss that it resulted in. In a place like this, small and lonely, but not big enough to make something of that loneliness, it could be particularly damaging.

Loki leaned into the touch when Thor offered it, pressing her cheek closer, practically nuzzling against his palm, like a particularly pleased cat.

It had been a while. Loki no longer relished being alone, whether or not she was standing near someone else. So she moved closer, inching forward until she was more in Thor's space than not.

The two of them were bonded, in a way that really only they could understand. Thor would never try to explain it to anyone else, for one because it'd be far too complicated. For another, it was just for him and Loki. It was their bond, and no one else should have any part of it. No matter how angry, hurt, betrayed or whatever it was that Loki was causing him to feel, it wouldn't break the bond. Likewise, no matter how much Thor frustrated or irritated or infuriated Loki, they were unbroken together.

The way she received his touch brought a smile to his face. Thor kept his hand there, because he liked how it felt when she rubbed her cheek against his palm. He shifted too, to be sitting rather than kneeling, and with his other strong arm helped her even closer, into his lap. He leaned in, then, and brushed his lips where her neck and jaw met. "There you are."

Oh, yes. This was much better, Loki decided. Enough of the nonsense, the fighting for no reason. The fjord was a fine enough place to settle a home, and even though Loki would have liked a conversation about it first -- well. The view was still fine enough, she decided as she pulled back just enough to look Thor in the face.

"Here I am," she agreed, settling in that way she only ever did when it was with Thor. The urge to be soft never came up otherwise, not with anyone no matter how well Loki liked them. Just Thor.

So she hugged him then, because he probably deserved it and they both needed it. "Shall we go inside?"

It was infinitely better. Fun as it was to poke at each other and the attention he got from making Loki angry, Thor preferred what was happening now. Like Loki, Thor didn't go soft often. He could be silly, ridiculous even, but to truly soften the way he did for her was not something he really allowed for anyone else to see.

There was something to be said about willingly allowing himself to be as vulnerable as possible to the one person who could truly rip his heart out and smash it to pieces. Trust, yes. Love, certainly.

"Mmhmm," he murmured, but was loathe to move now that he was holding her again. It took him a little bit, but slowly he uncurled his arms from around her so they could go inside. Loki could thank him tomorrow for his excellent idea of moving the house.
