Who: Losers et al. But basically anyone can show up, lbh
What: Partying in Tozier Style
Where: The Losers House
When: Dec 25th

The halls were decked. Balls were out. Whatever. Richie had tried decorating to his best ability, which had been slightly hampered by his lack of know how — years and years as a live-alone bachelor didn’t tend to make a guy decorate his house much — and by the lack of a general store in which to get decorations. Still, those doors had come in clutch, for the most part. There was a little fake tree (and some presents underneath, even!) and plenty of strung up lights and Richie had made sure to put mistletoe in literally every doorway because he was a chaotic monster on a goddamned mission, okay.

As promised there were drinks. And snacks. And chicken tenders (well made by Beverly) and Mac and Cheese (not quite as well made by Richie, but he’d tried and therefore no one could criticize him) and some other holiday stuff.

But the dance party was the appeal here and Richie, with his absurd amount of records and even more now that he’d gotten some for Christmas, was fucking ready with a stack curated specifically for the holiday. And, of course, with Stan in mind too.

Christmas in Hollis was blaring, he somehow had two drinks in hand, and Rich was fucking ready for whatever the night was going to bring.

Questionable temperatures probably only mattered for a few for the snacks, thank you. Richie wasn't a genius at stuff like that, but he did try and research it a little earlier in order to keep Eddie happy. Borrowed crockpots kept the food at a reasonable food safe temperature (not that that would help the mac and cheese taste any better) and cheese platters were allowed to sit out for hours on end according to literally every green room and party he'd ever been to.

The dairy problem, mistletoe and loud music though were just things that he couldn't do anything about. That was just how things were. It was a party. It was Christmas and three of Richie's most important and favorite people were alive and here and able to celebrate and he wanted to delight in that, okay. He had to treat it like it was a big thing because it was.

It might be easier celebrating with his best friends though, if Eddie didn't keep slipping off and diving through doorways like an insane person. "One more time up there and I'm gonna start thinking you're either hiding something, or have a very bad masturbatory problem," Richie accused, although he was smiling -- drink in one hand and half eaten carrot stick in the other. See? He did eat vegetables sometimes. "And if it's the latter you could have invited me along, you know. Merry Christmas, Short Stuff."

Once he got drunk enough he'd probably forget all about whatever it was he had stubbornly convinced himself that he should be worried about. For now, however, everything beyond the vegetables was earning a frown. The cheese dicks just got an special sort of incredibly exasperated frown.

He gave Richie a look which only lasted until he saw the carrot stick in his hand and the tie he'd put on. Someone was both eating healthy and dressed to impress. How did he not notice that earlier? Probably because he was so busy glaring up at the boughs of mistletoe and running back upstairs. "You know I'm not hiding anything." He said and he didn't even want to honor the whole masturbation thing with a reply but this Richie. They had cheese shaped like dicks because Eddie had left him with a loophole. "And I'm not constantly running upstairs to touch myself, dick." He huffed, swatting at him gently. "I was just checking on Staniel. Making sure the loud music wasn't upsetting him or making his headache worst." Yes. The Psyduck was named after Stan. They had yet to find a new species in Starklandia so the Pokemon was the best he could do.

He wasn't going to keep darting off upstairs though. Now that he was sure the little guy was fine and comfortable, that he wasn't feeling lonely or left out, Eddie could make sure someone else wasn't feeling lonely or neglected on Christmas. "Merry Christmas, honey. You look good. I think the carrot stick pulls the outfit together." He teased.

Richie didn't miss the way that Eddie sort of softened over -- well, maybe the tie or the carrot or both and god, what a soft touch. Richie didn't know if it was really that easy to make him happy or maybe if he just normally set the bar so lo wit wasn't hard to get over it.

"A guy can dream," he said, finishing off the carrot with a loud crunch. But yeah, okay, he got it. The little duck was a nervous little fucker -- kind of like Eddie himself and so he could see why Eds was worried. And he could see why he'd adopted the little dude to begin with. It was all very cute, if not a vicious cycle. But Richie liked little Staniel Jr anyway.

"Carrot sticks are nearly as romantic as ties," he said sagely, leaning in to steal a quick kiss. Because he could do that now and it really wasn't fucking getting old. He just dug it. Kinda like he dug that honey. "Wanna drink?"

If it were anyone but Richie it would've taken a lot more than a tie and a carrot stick to get him to soften. These things were just important. There were still memories of a smaller Richie with his hair brushed and perfectly parted wearing an oversized tie and just begging Eddie to see him. To see that he was right there in front of him. It was the reminder that what he was looking for had always been close by. Even when he felt alone and too weird or different, even around the Losers, he really wasn't. Richie was always right there. How could he not soften for that?

He still made a face at that comment. There weren't enough ties and carrots in the world to stop that. He wasn't even going to playfully suggest that they could do a little of that after the party had ended. He was pretty sure they'd both be drunk or tired and just want to pass out in bed. Besides, he was pretty sure he'd want to be up bright and early the next day in order to clean up whatever was still lying around from the party. He just hoped he wasn't in bed with Richie nursing a hangover.

He wasn't about to argue over whether or not carrots were romantic. He knew he'd gone a little soft when he saw one in Richie's hand so... maybe? Whatever. It didn't matter. What mattered more was the quick kiss and the thought of just how far they had come. A couple of months ago they were still dancing around this thing between them. Even after they weren't no one was brave enough to be openly and publicly affectionate. Now there were stolen kisses and the two of them acting like a real fucking couple just with a lot of bickering and teasing. "Yes. I want a drink. I've been fucking trying to get to that but some idiot decided that mistletoe was the theme of this party." He said giving Richie a look. "Walk me over there. I can't kiss anyone else if I'm attached to you."

That was Richie still -- always right there. And they both well knew it. Even if they argued and offered up bantering and barbs and Richie was busy sometimes making dicks out of cheese just on a challenge, he was still just a version of that kid. Except now he had permission to not bother with his hair. Which was a relief. It didn't suit him.

And a boy could hope about a little fooling around after the party, but Richie wasn't a fool and he'd already promised to do shots with Beverly. He wasn't making it out of this alive, let alone ready to fool around, no doubt. Sure, there was always a possibility, but -- well. He doubted it.

"I don't know why you think you're going to be attacked with kisses," he told Eddie, clearly amused, but offered his arm like some kind of great escort anyway. Because he fucking was. "But no worries, babe, I'll protect your honor. And I won't even charge the kissing toll myself each time." Although he would sometimes. Probably on the rooms or spots that weren't so in the open.

But they made it safely to the table with all the drinks laid out (only one kiss stolen along the way from Richie) and he gestured at it like an excitable Vanna White.

There would be time to fool around in the future. There was a good possibility that Christmas would not be ending with Eddie in a pair of obscenely short shorts but they could always try for New Year's or any other day of the week. Sure, the holidays were a special occasion but they didn't necessarily need them to fool around. It just seemed like a good excuse.

"Because that's the fucking rule as far as mistletoe goes? You end up under it with someone you have to kiss them." And, look, he wouldn't mind it. Not really. He would happily kiss Richie or Stan or, hell, even Bev. It would just seem weird to end up beneath it with Sirius or Remus or Tony. It was best to avoid it completely and not have to deal with the awkwardness that it could result in. He did appreciate the offer though and smiled as he slipped his arm through Richie's. "You could if you wanted to."

If he had wanted to charge him the kissing toll at every doorway they went through Eddie wouldn't have complained. It was Christmas. He could let a few things slide with only mild complaining. He did, however, appreciate that Richie hadn't, that he'd only stolen one on the way to their destination. He let go of the comedian a little reluctantly and set to pouring himself a glass of whatever they had on hand. He wasn't being picky.

"You know..." He said as he turned to look back at his boyfriend. "I don't think I can remember a better Christmas. I didn't really enjoy the holidays with Myra." He hadn't enjoyed many things with Myra but that wasn't anything he wanted to get into. "And, I mean, as a kid it was hard not to be excited even if I always felt like I was being suffocated around my mother." And the Christmas holiday made it worst. It wasn't like summer vacation where he could run around with the Losers and just stay outside all day. The snow and cold kept them in. The risk of illness kept him home mostly. It was better than spending the entirety of his winter break in the hospital because he had the sniffles and his mother insisted that he was dying. "I think being with you makes all the difference, as sappy as that sounds."

Holidays were a good excuse for plenty of things, that was true. But they didn't need excuses -- that was actually a lesson they were still learning. Slow and sometimes awkward, but Richie liked to think they were getting better at it. It was a lot easier to want these days without just pining from a few feet away. Having was pretty fucking great.

"I suppose it is a good call, not having to kiss your teenaged fathers," Richie said thoughtfully, sort of wincing in sympathy. Yeah, he'd hung the mistletoe up but maybe, just maybe, he hadn't thought of the possible consequences. Probably no one was shocked.

Richie couldn't much imagine that holidays with Myra were any fun at all -- he didn't know what kind of family she had, and frankly he was a little afraid to ask if Eddie wasn't volunteering. "And I didn't have much fun all on my own," he admitted instead. "We did alright when we were kids though. I used to sneak in through your window when I thought I could get away with it, remember? I guess it's different though. As kids." Because back then it was all just excitement for having off of school, or for getting a particularly cool toy or comic or something. It wasn't necessarily about being with the people you loved -- although Richie liked to think that the Losers had always been a little better at that than most kids.

But Eddie was right, of fucking course he was. Because Richie, right now, wouldn't be any kind of happy at all on this holiday if Eds weren't right here and alive. "That's sappy as shit," he said, but it came out soft and fond instead of accusing. "Hey, uh, Eds?"

"And that's just my teenaged dads." He said, offering Richie something of a smug smile because it was yet another complaint he was right about like shitty security in a fussy, haunted hotel. "What if I wound up beneath it with my hero? You'd hate it. He'd hate it too but I think you'd hate it more." Because a small version of Richie had become jealous of a small version of Tony. Admittedly the small version of Eddie hadn't been helping much by referring to Tony as his hero. It'd been harmless though. He wasn't trying to make Richie jealous. He'd been trying to make a new friend. Richie's reaction had just surprised him.

It was easier and better to focus on the here and now. More enjoyable to think of Christmases he was fond of rather than what they became when he was older and married. It hadn't been fun at all and Eddie didn't want to ruin his own mood by reminiscing. She was no longer part of his life now, anyway. He had a new one with Richie and he planned on making the most of it. Even if there was still a little reminiscing. Those were happier memories though. He smiled at the reminder. "Yeah, I do. I remember hissing at you about breaking your fucking neck or lingering in the open window too long." He never made Richie go home though. He was always invited in, tugged in sometimes. They would always lie together on his bed and read whatever new comic Richie had come to show off. "You'll realize that, even with all that bitching I did, I never once asked you to stop." He could point those things out now. He didn't have to hide that he'd had a crush on his best friend as a child anymore. It was pointless now that they were older and dating. Why hide it?

"Fuck you, Rich." He retorted without missing a beat and without any sort of heat or malice behind it. He knew he was being sappy and he knew Richie liked it. He expected to be called out on it. He just may have expected a little more accusing and less of that sappy fondness but he wasn't complaining. It gave him his own excuse to be fond and gentle with his insults. He turned away from the drink table with a cup in hand and eyebrow raised as Richie tried to get his attention. "Hm?" He asked.

Richie wouldn't hate it more if Eddie ended up locking lips with Tony, he'd hate it the most. Even the mere suggestion of it was enough to have Richie looking a bit like maybe he'd tried eating a lemon. IT wasn't even necessary to say anything on the matter, that was how much he hated it. And yeah it was stupid, but the little version of him had been wildly jealous of that kid -- even if it'd all worked out for the better. Now it was just like, residual feelings or something.

Well, sure, it'd been a task and a half trying to climb up a tree and drain pipe in order to get up to Eddie's window in the winter, everything all slippery and icy, but it'd been worth it, if only to hear Eddie bitch about it before letting him in and sharing blankets. And no, Eddie'd never told him not to do it, just yelled at him while it was happening. "I probably wouldn't have listened anyway," he admitted, because he'd been lovesick and stupid and not much had changed. "But I did notice."

Richie chewed at his lip for a moment, considered his words (and Beverly's, from earlier) carefully all while his eyes darted around the room, scoping out where everyone was, what was going on. It wasn't a huge crowd and mostly everyone was off talking by the food table (as one did, at a party). So maybe they weren't alone, but they were generally unbothered and no one was really paying them any mind. "I think you're right," he said after a beat, looking back at Eddie. "You being here makes all the difference. Like, all of it. I wouldn't be -- I mean, there'd be no party at all if you weren't here. No point."

"Fucking knew it." Eddie laughed at the face Richie made. There wasn't and had never been anything to worry about. Even when they were all small and the same age. Tony wanted to impress new friends and Eddie was impressed but no one was ever quite as impressive as Richie. Maybe it was the fact that Eddie had a crush on his best friend that always made Richie seem that much more special, more impressive than anyone Eddie had met since him.

"Funny how you never pointed it out while I was bitching at you." Maybe Richie had been nervous that pointing it out would remind Eddie that those words existed and that he could use them at any time. It was pointless. Eddie had known he could tell him to stop. He could tell him not to do it again and, in spite of what Richie claimed, he actually might have listened. Eddie hadn't wanted him to stop. He hadn't wanted to face the possibility of there coming a day when Richie wasn't trying to break his neck to get to him. Curling up together under the shared blankets, pressing close together and being soft while no one else was around to see had meant too much.

Eddie frowned a little as Richie looked around and at their guests. He wasn't sure what the comedian was looking for but he didn't dwell on it. Richie was the host, right? It was his job to make sure everyone was happy or something. His frown only deepened a little more when Richie started talking again. "There might be." He said, wondering if this was somehow related to his certain doom that was still lurking in his future back in their world. "You'd still have friends you might want to celebrate with. I'm the best part of your life not the only part." He tried to end on a teasing note, to try and make Richie smile or, at least, look at him.

"Maybe I just liked it when you bitched," Richie pointed out -- but yeah, maybe there was some part of him that was worried he'd have actually pissed Eddie off, that he'd actually be sent away. For as much of a shit starter as Richie was -- or had been -- he didn't actually like it when people were mad at him. There wasn't much worse than the being dismissed or ignored. No point in tempting fate when what he'd been doing at the time had been working out for him.

"Maybe," Richie said, but he didn't sound overly convinced. Sure, he'd have friends here and maybe there'd be parties, but -- well. He wasn't sure. There was a part of Richie that was pretty sure he wouldn't be open to things like that if Eddie wasn't here. Or just, really, wouldn't have bothered sticking around to find out. Which was really fucking morbid, but that'd just sort of been the mental spot he'd been in when he'd shown up.

That wasn't the point right now though, and it certainly wasn't anything he was ever going to tell anyone, let alone Eddie.

He looked back at his boyfriend, smiled a little nervously while he fiddled with his tie. "Not the point. The point is you are the best part, dude. And I don't wanna throw or show up to parties you aren't at. And I know you're gonna bitch a little, and sneak off to get away from the noise and stick your nose up at my cheese dicks, but you're still gonna come and I love that, you know? So, like, I should put that on lock down. Marry me."

"Well... considering how much I did it back then and still do it now, I'd say there's a very good chance that's true." He laughed. That point had probably been established multiple times already. If they were to ask Stan or Bev they would agree that Richie had always pushed Eddie's buttons on purpose just to get a rise out of him. They might even go on to say that, in spite of his bitching, Eddie never really seemed to mind. Which he didn't. He liked bickering with Richie. He liked the goofy way he smiled when something he'd said or done had managed to get Eddie's attention on him. Eddie had probably just been lucky that his own feelings had never interrupted one of his tirades.

The sound of the comedian's voice made him frown. He didn't like that maybe. He didn't like the way it implied that Richie might just decide to stop trying without him. He hadn't been there when Richie first appeared in town. He didn't know what had been going through the other's head or what he'd been feeling. He knew Richie had been upset, obviously. He could see it every time he looked at the taller man. He had seen it when things got a little too quiet between them during those early days where they stumbled and struggled through their friendship. He was glad to be past all of that now.

Or mostly past it? He didn't know anymore because Richie seemed nervous and Eddie couldn't understand why. He still wasn't catching on when Richie repeated his words back to him. "I was joking..." He tried to argue but it was no use, really. Richie was still talking. Bringing up the way he kept sneaking off and, look, there was a reason. They had discussed his reason. As for the cheese dicks, he was pretty sure that it hadn't actually been Richie's idea until Eddie had been an idiot and said something about it. He was actually pretty impressed by the cheese he wasn't touching but Richie didn't need to know about that either. As for the rest, well...

"Of course I'm going to come." He said with a shrug. "You're there. We've only been following each other around like love-sick puppies since the day we met." That hadn't changed. Nothing in their relationship had really changed with a few exceptions. He wasn't actually taking those last two words seriously, assuming Richie was joking. He offered the comedian a soft smile as he moved to lean against him a little. "Pretty sure you know the answer to that one even if it didn't sound like a question." He teased. "Where is this coming from? Did your teenaged big brother find your a ringpop or something?"

Of course it was true -- it was practically a given at this point. Richie thrived on being a glutton for punishment and Eddie was great at giving it. So. It worked out well for everyone. Just like it always had. Well, except for maybe Stan who really had mastered the art of the eye roll entirely too young. But Richie kinda thought he liked that, too.

Joking or not on Eddie's part, it was true. Richie hadn't exactly had a bad life leading up to the Losers reunion. He'd been successful and rich. Popular in a way he'd often hoped for when he was younger. He mostly liked what he did. But there'd always been something empty and missing about it all. And then there they'd been at that shitty Chinese place and he'd thought to himself. Oh. Well. There it is.

So yeah, he knew life was better with Eddie, and he'd been forced to live without him in two different ways already. Richie wasn't rushing into this or being stupid. He just knew for a fact that he didn't want to go without anymore.

Even if Eddie clearly thought he was joking. Which. Okay, fair, because he was doing this like a complete jackass.

"He's not a teenager, I don't think," Richie said, latching on to the dumbest part of the conversation because that's how he did things, he guessed. "But no. Fuck -- hang on." He dug through his pockets to produce the little box that'd been in there for entirely too long now. Richie had never been so diligent in picking his pants up off the floor in his entire life as he had been this last month. He offered it up in the palm of his hand, not as steady as he might like. "I'll get on my knee if you want me to," he said, words quick and edging toward something a little more manic. "But that'll just make me the same height as you and will also cause a scene, so it's really up to you on that one, Eds."

"He could be." Eddie pointed out because, well, he could be. He doubted Richie had asked Dick his age. Eddie hadn't asked Sirius, Remus, or Tony their ages. He just knew they were younger than him. When he was smaller, he knew that Sirius was older than him but his age hadn't mattered. He looked like an adult but he'd been an adult who was willing to talk to him and help him when he asked for it. He was willing to make them a hammock and, most importantly, he was willing to talk to Eddie about his mother, his fears, and the feelings he had for Richie. He'd been the first adult (or near adult) to tell him that his mother was wrong and it was okay to feel the way he felt about his best friend regardless of whether or not that best friend was also a boy. Even now, that little pep talk mattered more and had cemented Sirius place in Eddie's life as someone he could talk to and trust regardless of his age. He was family.

He was drawn out of his teasing by Richie fumbling through his pocket. Eddie frowned a little unimpressed though not entirely sure what his boyfriend was looking for. He had sort of figured that Richie had been hiding something. Eddie didn't know what. He just knew that Richie didn't leave his pants lying around on the floor. It had been appreciated at first but had gone on long enough now that Eddie was mildly suspicious. It just wasn't like Richie to be that diligent about picking up his pants. The guy wouldn't even make the bed.

His suspicions were far from the point. None of it even fucking mattered when Richie pulled out a little box and held it out to him. Was that...? No, it couldn't be. Richie was fucking with him, right? He looked from the box to the comedian, taking in just how nervous Richie seemed and the way his hands were shaking. He thought about he way Richie had looked around earlier and... Oh shit! This was real, wasn't it? There was an actual fucking ring in that box. Richie was proposing.

The comedian's hands were shaking and there was something in his voice that was verging on manic even as he was teasing Eddie. He hadn't really thought about how Richie might do this but he could, honestly, say he wouldn't have imagined this but maybe he should've. It was kind of perfect. "I'm not that fucking short." He breathed because, look, he had to. Richie couldn't get away with that joke. As for the rest, well, he was still certain his answer should be obvious but it might be nice to let Richie actually hear it. "Yes. I'll marry you. I want to marry you more than anything."

Richie was pretty hilarious normally, okay? But that didn't mean everything he did was a jokes. This definitely was not a joke -- and that was clearly becoming more obvious to Eddie the longer time went on because Richie was a stupid wreck and even if he wasn't doing this right, he was being serious. Mostly. There were a few jokes he couldn't help in there, that was just the way of things and something Eddie had to know that he'd signed up for, at this point.

"You're a little short," Richie said quietly, but it was a cursory response at best. Because, okay yeah, he'd known Eddie would say yes: they'd talked about this more than a few times now, had joked about last names and fake kids and whatever else. Just. He didn't know. He'd still been nervous, maybe just on account of having never done this before, never having wanted to. But now he did, sort of ridiculously and desperately.

"Yeah?" He asked, clearly elated, leaning in closer. "You didn't even look at it. It might be a ringpop." It was not candy. It was a very sensibly sized diamond ring in a tension set because Richie didn't know shit about jewelry but he did know that Eddie was practical and might want to put his hand in his pocket without anything getting caught, or like, have to worry about the thing falling out or. Whatever. And there was an inscription on the inside that matched that comically low spot on their front door, initials carved into it by a lovesick child who didn't know how to be brave enough to say things out loud, but wanted to tell the world regardless.

Whether or not Richie was hilarious might depend entirely on who you asked. Eddie would tell anyone who asked that Richie wasn't funny with a completely straight face. It may have even been believable if Eddie didn't laugh along with the others when he was sure that Richie wasn't looking at him. Which was incredibly difficult because Richie was almost always looking at him. At this point he was sure that Richie recognized the lie behind those words. That Eddie did, actually, think he was funny but the whole routine had become a game by now. So while Eddie knew he'd signed on for jokes, Richie had to know he'd signed on for dirty looks, complaints, and claims that he wasn't funny even after he'd caught a laugh.

The short jokes, however, weren't funny. Not when he was pretty sure he was average height and his friends (with the exception of Bill and Bev who were petite) were all just freakishly tall giants. He attention wound up drawn away from the ring box in front of him and towards his boyfriend in order to narrow in a completely and totally unimpressed fashion. As much as he wanted to stay annoyed, however, it was kind of difficult with the way Richie was looking at him, the obnoxious Christmas music, and the fact that this was a real, actual proposal.

"You're probably going to make me regret it very soon." He teased but couldn't help the way his own face lit up at Richie's obvious joy, at the way he leaned forward. "It's kind of too late to back down now if it is." Eddie said as he finally took the box from Richie's hand. "You may not realize this but I wouldn't have cared too much if it was." The ring didn't really matter. The asking did. When he opened the box, however, he was surprised to find that the ring inside definitely wasn't candy. It was... it was actually something quite perfect for him. It was, obviously, an engagement ring but the tension setting meant he wouldn't have to worry about the diamond falling out and he could slip his hand into his pocket without it getting caught. It wasn't flashy but it wasn't plain either. As he inspected it he noticed something engraved into the band.

"If this says I fucked your mom I'm leaving you." He said, looking up at Richie before turning to inspect the engraving he'd only caught a glimpse of. It did not, in fact, say those words. It was just their initials. It was simply 'R+E', the same thing a stupidly sweet possibly drunk, but definitely lovesick child had carved into their door. "Oh..." He breathed and then it was Eddie's turn to try to blink away tears.

Richie was well aware that Eddie actually thought he was funny -- just like he was sure that Eddie was well aware that Richie wasn't any kind of hurt by the fact that Eddie went out of his way to be Richie's biggest critic (except for, of course, himself). It was the way of things, and it worked for them; Richie going to wild extremes to be funny and Eddie getting that pinched up look he got when it was obvious he wasn't trying to laugh.

Rich loved that look.

But the short jokes were actually funny. And Richie smiled innocently when Eddie gave him a look. "Entirely too late," he agreed mildly. About thirty five years too late, in fact. That's about how far back someone would have to go to maybe persuade the both of them to not become best friends and then something more.

He stayed silent when Eddie actually looked at the ring, and his mouth twisted into something of a smile when he made a joke about what the inscription might say -- but not really because he was going to laugh so much as burst out into overwhelmingly pleased tears. Because, well, that was Richie. Too much all the time.

"Good?" He asked, quiet. He wasn't trying to make a scene for once. This was just for them, even if it was in the middle of a party.

It really was entirely too late. Eddie was pretty sure he'd loved Richie the best from the moment they met. If Derry hadn't screwed them up so badly maybe the two of them would've been able to admit what they felt for each other sooner. If they hadn't had their memories of each other stolen maybe this proposal would've happened years ago, back when they were in their 20's and had a whole long future ahead of themselves instead of this stolen one in some weird pocket dimension. Whatever might have happened or should've happened if things had been different and life had been kind didn't really matter anymore. The past was what it was and there was no changing it. They just had to embrace what they had here and move forward. "Damnit. Guess I have to marry you." He teased

Of course Richie was going to cry. He was an emotional sap. Eddie wouldn't change that for the world either. He loved Richie.

There was also the fact that this moment was the sort of thing you were allowed to cry over. Eddie was doing his best but a few happy tears still managed to slip out. His lips still trembled with the effort not to sob. "Good? No..." He decided that good didn't even begin to describe the moment. It was far beyond that. Hell, it was beyond whatever silly little proposal he had imagined because, yes, he had imagined it once or twice. This was different. This was better. "Perfect." He murmured as he slipped on the ring.

He pulled Richie in for a quick kiss without worrying about any attention the two of them might receive for crying and kissing in front of the alcohol table. When he pulled back he smiled up at the comedian and took ahold of his hand. This had been a quiet affair, something just for them and that was perfect for Eddie but he knew Richie. He knew the other man wasn't usually quiet. He liked attention. He liked making a scene. Maybe they wouldn't make a scene but he was pretty sure they could compromise and Richie could get a little attention. "Come on..." He said, taking ahold of his hand and tugging him away from the drink table. "Let's go show off to our friends."

The rest of the night could be spent partying and telling anyone who would listen that the two of them were, finally, engaged.
