There was a sound she made, a short of huff of her breath, part sigh and part almost a wry shadow of a laugh, as if she had known this would follow. She had been right about his admirable, but foolish aspirations.
There was a part of her that wanted to kiss him, a sweet gesture for his kindness, and his ability to reassure her, understand that anyone would need it, within this moment. She was still who he knew, and there was something about hearing that, that nearly made her smile, the hints of it were there at the corner of his lips as she stared at the floor, but she didn’t let herself - she hadn’t pulled out of his grip. The way he spoke, wasn’t that she could manage, it was they could. He was already talking distracting, involvement. He’d be there with her.
“No-” Leia shook her head, she didn’t want her refusal mistaken for ungratefulness or rejection. “I appreciate it, of course I do.” She was sincere in that, and she met his gaze to ensure he took that to heart, that his offer wasn’t refuted because his support was unwanted, it wasn’t that. He’d said the right thing, from the heart anyway, in this case he needed to use his head, he needed to think like a Sith, for a change, perhaps. “It’s ..not something you manage with people who could be in danger, anywhere near you.” And, that too likely answered some of his confusion, and her reasons for retreating. She had known what he’d want to do. “You didn’t see them. They’re bigger than you-” Bigger than a tall human. Of course, did a person’s human height account for the size they became? She had no idea. “Relentless. They- won’t be distracted, or pacified or ..they just about killed Siri and I, we were both armed.”
