Who: Spider-kids
What: Doing what spider-kids do
Where: Around town
When: Today

He hadn't caught on to it immediately, even after he'd woken up that first morning not needing his glasses, but after a few days Peter realized something was different about him, he was faster and stronger, and he could see better than he'd ever been able to do, and most importantly he could crawl up walls. It was so cool, he'd shown off a little bit to Claire, showing her how he could do flips and things that he'd never been able to do before.

If he'd known this was coming he'd have grown up a long time ago.

But here he was now, not really grown up, but with all the benefits as he crawled up a wall to see what of interest there might be in town. The party at Tony's had been fun, a hot tub on the roof was cool, but Peter was sure there would be more interesting things in town to do too. So he thought maybe crawling a little bit higher would be the way to do it. And he saw a sort of jungle gym thing, that looked like it had been made for climbing, yeah that was exactly where Peter wanted to go. So he'd flipped off the wall and then started off in that direction.

On his way though he saw something that made him stop in his tracks, there was a girl, a little girl, and like him she could climb the walls. "Hey!" Peter called out as he jogged towards her. "Hey you can climb the walls too!"

Maybe he should have felt weird, hanging out with a kid as young as Gwen but he knew just like she did when she'd looked at him assessing his face before declaring that he was in fact Peter, that she was someone important to him. So maybe it was weird, maybe it wasn't, he didn't know - there was a lot weird about this place, but what he did know was that hanging out with someone like him for a while was absolutely the thing he wanted to do.

"Yeah!" He agreed, getting up to his feet again, and offering her his hand so they could get to that jungle gym thing together and see what it was all about. Especially now that Gwen was here, he had thought it would be fun, but it was just gonna be that much more fun now.

"This place looks so cool." He said just standing there for a minute looking around at the structure, it wasn't like some of the jungle gyms he'd seen in playgrounds before, it was like it was made for people like them, with things to crawl up on and jump around on.

Gwen didn't hang out with big kids often but she was no longer really looking at Peter like he was older. She just saw Peter, and she loved Peter with all of her heart. He was her bestest friend ever and now that he was there she was going to play and play and play until they were so tired they had to lay down and look up at the sky. And then they'd maybe play some more. Or at least until Mr. Stark told her it was time for dinner.

"It's the coolest! Besides Mr. Stark's workshop anyway." She looked up toward the very top, determined she was going to make it up there today because it was Peter Day and when he was around she felt like she could do anything.

"I'm gonna go to the top. I bet we can touch the clouds up there." They definitely couldn't but maybe if she stretched her arm as high as it would go it'd be like almost touching one. "Let's try!" She scrambled up one side a few rungs, then jumped up and swung around to another one. Gwen wasn't sure how she got to be so nimble but she was just kind of going with it because it worked.

"Yeah?" He asked curious about the workshop, he didn't think he'd seen it before. But something about the name felt familiar. Like so much of this place, things were just familiar in ways he couldn't quite put a finger on.

But then Gwen was laying our her plan, to get to the top and Peter was ready to join her up there, mostly because it was cool, but also because well - she was only little and he didn't want her to get hurt trying to get up there.

She was faster than him, as she set out, but Peter was right behind her, jumping up over some of the rungs, and pulling himself along in a way he'd never been able to do before. He didn't know if it was because of the town that he was like this or something else, but he was having the best time ever doing this. "You're really good at this!" He was impressed by her even being small, she moved easily and with more confidence than Peter did, still figuring out this sticking to stuff thing.

Gwen had the advantage of being only little. She was young and at her age pretty much believed herself to be invincible. Even though she'd fallen a few times from un-sticking she didn't really understand the concept of fear just yet. She'd never been hurt badly enough that it made her think twice about climbing the walls or crawling across the ceiling or to the top of a giant jungle gym to try to touch clouds. She believed she could do anything and so far in her short only little life it had been working out pretty well for her.

She wasn't really sure when she learned how to climb or how she'd become as nimble as she was. It wasn't to say Gwen was clumsy but she moved like she was in the ballet or a gymnast on the uneven bars when she did things like this. It just sort of happened. She couldn't explain it, but she could do it!

"You're really good too, Peter!" She said with a big smile, despite her front teeth being missing. "We're almost at the top! I'm gonna wave to Mr. Stark from up there. Come on!" She jumped up another rung and swung around to the next one over, giggling all the while.

She was probably better than him, Peter thought, but he was having fun regardless - it wasn't so much about winning or being the best but just about having fun. And they had that taken care of easily. He laughed as she cheered him on too, though and he grinned racing up after here. "You think he's gonna be able to see you from all the way up here?" He wondered laughing at the idea of it - like they were so high up that no one would be able to see them from there.

In truth, it wasn't that high, but for a kid who hadn't always had the ability to climb walls? Well it was pretty dang high - higher than he'd have ever climbed if he couldn't do this. But here they both were climbing high and making plans to look out over the whole town.

"Maybe we'll see something cool up there." He thought, swinging up from a lower rung and then taking a jump up to another until they'd made it up to the top together. "What do you think?" He asked her as he found a perch for himself up there, feeling pretty cool about it. "We can see everything up here." Or as much of everything that there was here in this town.

"Uh huh! I do! 'cause Mr. Stark is my dad and he can do anything," Gwen said, proudly as she beamed at him. She knew later when she asked him if he saw her up there waving he'd definitely say of course he did, because she was the best climber and the best waver. Then maybe they could play with some legos and with Steve. Maybe she could invite Peter over too! Already she was pretty excited about it.

Gwen was perched at the top when Peter joined her and it was really pretty awesome. The town wasn't so big but to Gwen it felt like she was on top of the world. And she was there with her best friend in that entire world. She took his hand and squeezed it. "This is so awesome," she proclaimed in that dramatic little kid way that meant to her, it was definitely the most awesome thing ever until the next most awesome thing happened. "I'm so glad I found you Peter. I mean, you found me." She giggled. "I wouldn't wanna be up here with anyone else. It's ours."

"He sounds great," Peter grinned when Gwen told him with complete sincerity that she was absolutely sure that not only would Mr. Stark see them up there, but that he could do anything. "We'll be sure to wave real good to him then so he can see us both way up here." He laughed, happy to help her have that moment since she seemed eager to make it happen.

Up there at the top with Gwen's hand in his Peter felt something he wasn't entirely sure he ever had, like family - well he had family of course, Uncle Ben and Aunt May obviously, but Gwen was like a sister, and so it didn't matter that she was younger than him, she was family. And that was something Peter always wished he had more of. "Yeah it is," He agreed with a wide open and happy grin.

"I'm glad we found each other too, Gwen, this wouldn't have been fun at all without you." And he was surprised to find that was true. Sure it was fun to figure out all the new things he could do, but it was better like this, with someone who was like him and was glad to have him around too.
