Who: All the town kids who want in
What: Hot Tub Party
Where: Tony's house
When: Today

This place was great, his dad wasn't around and he didn't have classes or tutors or anything to bother him. And he had a house full of bots and his pokemon, it was quite possibly the coolest place he'd ever been and people were coming over, it was gonna be a party!

Sure he didn't do much in the way of planning but he had his fridge full of cheese and there were drinks everywhere and Dum-E would totally make juice if people wanted it, it seemed to be about all he could do but Tony loved him and he was glad to have him there.

And well .... it was gonna be cool, he'd never had a party before, not with kids his own age so he was ready and he was antsy kind of pacing a little bit while he waited for people to show up. And just when he thought he had it all ready Tony realized there was one thing left he needed and quickly found a piece of paper and some tape scribbling a hasty note and taping it outside on his door.

Come on in! It's party time.
No adults allowed!!!

There was a party on. Or, whatever passed for a party on Midgard or whatever place this was anyway. All Loki really knew was that it wasn’t Asgard, and that the party was rather lacking in a great hall. And there wasn’t a band. Or big plates of food anywhere.

Not that he really cared about those things. Loki’d always been a bit pickier than most. But Thor probably cared. Which meant that Loki did too, but in a different and in relation to sort of way. He shouldn’t have though, because Loki was still rather angry about Thor eating all the snack food and then gloating about it.

In fact, just to prove he was still sore, he was glaring at the back of his older brother’s head, not even bothering to look around as he followed him into house of Stark.

Okay so maybe Tony wasn't the best at party planning, but the thing was he hadn't had a lot of time to plan it and he didn't really have a lot of resources available to him to make it happen, but he thought that the music was good and there was a hot tub on the roof so what more did they need really?

Whatever the point was he was having fun so far, he'd been saying an overly enthusiastic hello to everyone he saw and making sure they knew that this was his house and that the bots were his and all of this was so cool, right? Yeah it was cool, Tony didn't need the other kids to tell him so... he just kind of wanted them to was all.

So when he saw one of them kind of on his own, glaring at someone else he decided he'd better step up. "If you want I can have Dum-E spill a drink on him." Tony offered because that was what you did right? If you were making friends you did things for them first. "He does it plenty already it'd be easy to make it happen on someone in particular. I'm Tony."

Loki was maybe a little surprised when he realized that someone was talking to him. He'd been so busy glaring at the back of Thor's stupid head that he'd sort of forgot there were other people around. Even though they were at a party. And people came to parties. That's just how they worked. Obviously Loki knew that. As a prince of Asgard, he'd attended a great many parties. None of them were like this, though.

Still. The boy talking to him was clearly the boy who made the invitation and owned the house so it was best to not tell him that it wasn't the best party he'd ever been to.

Although it had potential. "Could you do that?" He asked, wonder and a little bit of mischief in his eyes as he turned to look at Tony properly. It'd be so much funnier if a trick got played on Thor and he couldn't immediately blame Loki for it. "I'm Loki."

"Yeah!" Tony agreed eagerly, "I made him, he'll do it if I ask." Tony assured him, though he wasn't entirely sure that Dum-E would, he might though, he'd certainly try. And when that happened Tony felt pretty good that it would end with a drink spilled on the right person. And the boy he'd made the suggestion to dropped his glare for a moment which felt like a special kind of victory as well.

"Cool," He'd never met anyone with a name like Loki, but he decided he liked it, and Loki too for that matter. It was a little overwhelming if he was being honest, being at a party with this many kids so close to his age, most of the parties he went to were just his dad's boring friends or people he worked with and he just got trotted out for a few minutes to smile and shake hands before he was put to bed.

"Did he do something mean?" He asked, wondering what the other boy had done to earn Loki's ire.

Tony was a little eager, Loki noticed. It wasn't bad, exactly, but it could be used against him. At least, that's what Loki thought. Because -- well. Loki'd been getting some practice in lately at getting people to do what he'd like and this wouldn't even be any effort at all if Tony just kept offering.

That didn't mean it wasn't nice though. Loki liked it.

"You built him?" He asked, looking over at the robot in question, who was moving around a bit awkwardly with a tray. It did look like it'd be willing to spill things on people. Either on purpose or on accident. That thought made Loki smile.

"The meanest," he said, going back to glaring at Thor across the room. "He ate all the snacks." That wasn't even why Loki was mad, to be honest. He was mad because he'd been saying an awful lot of nice stuff about his brother and then Thor'd gone and ruined it all just by talking.

"Well.... I will have." Tony said after a moment as he considered Dum-E. He hadn't built him yet, but he would eventually. It was all backwards, but Tony thought maybe there was some sort of issue with the time stream happening here, the streams had been crossed or something. Egon had warned not to do that, but he guessed maybe that's what happened, they were here now like this, all out of order.

"He's good though, he helps the best he can." Which sometimes wasn't always the best, but he tried and that was the important part.

As for the boy Loki was glaring at - well Tony didn't know if eating all the snacks was the meanest thing anyone could do, but if Loki thought it was then Tony would let him. "That has to be a lot of snacks if he at them all, he didn't get sick did he?" It would serve him right if he did though.

Even though it shouldn't have, the explanation that someday Tony would build Dum-E seemed to make sense to him, and so he nodded with more thoughtful appraisal than any little boy ought to have in him. But Loki was wise and older than all the children here beside Thor, even if he didn't always act like it.

"He should definitely spill stuff on him, then," Loki decided, because retribution was in order and even if Loki was mad he was pretty sure a minor spill was probably a better punishment than a little stabbing.

That was still on the table, though. It might still happen.

"He never gets sick," Loki said with a little bit of a scowl. "He just gets stupider." Which wasn't really fair, but it didn't have to be. Anyway. He turned back to Tony and shrugged. "We should be friends," he decided.

Tony grinned when Loki agreed that Dum-E should spill something on the other boy and he nodded excitedly. "Okay! I'll make sure he does it." He promised, because that would be funny, right? Tony thought so and Loki liked the idea and Tony liked Loki so it all made sense in a good way.

As for the other boy Tony was impressed he could eat everything and not get sick, he wasn't totally sure he believed the idea that he just got stupider instead of sick though. But maybe he did? "He must have eaten a lot of snacks already if he's still doing it then." Tony reasoned.

And then the greatest thing ever happened.

"Yeah?!" Tony asked and then immediately calmed himself, "I mean, yeah, yeah we should totally be friends. That'd be great." Not much calmer but not quite ready to jump on Loki for it either. He was just excited okay, he couldn't help it.

"He's eaten a great deal of snacks," Loki assured, because yes his brother was absolutely an idiot. It was decided. And he was sort of pleased that this little boy, Stark, believed him. Loki wasn't even lying this time. Not really. Okay. A little bit. Thor wasn't all that dumb, realistically. But he was acting like it right now.

It was kind of funny and cute when Tony got excited by the idea of being friend and it sort of made Loki feel good, like he was very important (which, of course, he was) or like he was the best choice for when it came to being someone's friend. That didn't happen all that often so he sort of felt like he needed to be excited too. "Yeah! Of course. Will you show me more 'bots?"

Tony shook his head sadly while Loki told him how many snacks the other boy had eaten. It sounded tragic really. "That's too bad." He had a feeling there was more to the story but if Loki didn't want to tell him that was okay. Tony was just glad he could help him out.

Loki was important as far as Tony was concerned, he was fun and he was gonna let Tony show off what Dum-E could do and they were talking and he was here at his party. All the things necessary to make someone important in the life of Tony. And then Loki asked if he could see more bots and Tony practically jumped. "Yeah! I've got two more, one is Tony Jr, he's only this big." He held up his hands to demonstrate the size of the little robot, about seven or eight inches. "And the other one... he doesn't have a name I don't think, but he's cool too. He folds up tiny but he gets bigger!" Yes he was excited to show off a little bit, he might not have built the other two bots, but he loved them too and he wanted everyone else to meet them too.

It was very tragic and indeed also too bad, and so Loki nodded in agreement; solemn. Even if he was mostly just joking. Sort of.

Loki nodded along in interest and followed after Tony as he described the other robots -- he thought it was funny about the one called Tony Jr, and he liked that it was small for whatever reason. It was just cuter that way. Most things were. The one without a name he felt a bit bad for, even if he didn't know why. Not everything needed a name. But the little bots seemed to have a personality, and Loki liked that.

"You can name that one after me," he decided, like he was doing both Tony and the robot in question a favor. Which clearly he was, because names had power to them and no name was better than Loki.

Loki | THOR THE BEST BROTHER

Thor loved parties. Revels and merriment were plentiful at the parties on Asgard. Food was always bountiful and drinks as well. Thor wasn't really supposed to take part in the consuming of libations but he usually did it anyway. Just a few sips because Heimdall could always see everything. Still. Parties were fun and it meant he could just be silly and loud and while that was kind of a given on any day, it was celebrated during parties. Well, not so much the silly part. His father would get on him about that if he carried on too much, but he was almost always loud.

This party -- was not an Asgardian party. There weren't fountains of beverages in majestic display and there wasn't a bevy of food options to choose from. Thor loved a good block of cheese and while not in fountain form there were some drinks spread out so that was good. He didn't recognize a lot of what he saw. Come to think of it he still really didn't know what was going on here, how he and Loki got here, or anything of the sort. But he just figured it was some kind of test from the All Father and was running with it.

He could feel the dagger-like glaring going on from behind him so he looked back over his shoulder and gave a shit-eating-grin. "Indulge in the merriment, brother! This is a celebration!"

No, neither of them were supposed to take part in the drinking, but they'd both stolen sips here and there at the parties, and Loki was awfully good at giving Frigga pleading looks in order to get parentally sanctioned sips of mead every now and again. This was different though. They could just have it if they wanted it and it made Loki wonder if it was even worth it then. All the fun was gone if he didn't have to be sneaky about it.

He supposed he'd just see what Thor was going to do. Not that he cared about Thor's opinion. He was just curious, was all.

"How can I celebrate?" He asked Thor, eyebrows dipping down in a frown that might have been dangerous if it wasn't coming from a child. And might still have been dangerous, yet. "If all I'm going to worry about is you eating all the food?"

Thor could agree with his brother that when you took the sneak factor out of things it could take the fun out of it. He wasn't nearly as sneaky as his brother but Thor was often trying to pull one over on people, especially Loki. That was why he'd taken all the snacks. He hadn't actually eaten all of them. He just so rarely was able to fool Loki that he was really gloating about actually making his brother believe he'd done it. Loki was so cross with him, and it was great because it meant he'd pay attention to him. Even if it meant sharp objects. Thor loved attention, and Loki's was his favorite. Even more than attention from their father.

Loki's frowns were always a little dangerous. Enough that it made Thor realize he had to be prepared for some kind of retaliation. But again, even that was attention and he thrived on it. "You're always worrying too much. Just have fun, Loki!" Thor spun around and moved closer to him. "We can still have fun together, right? We don't need the food right now. There's food right here. You can take your fill of it, and there will still be more. Don't be cross. You'll ruin your time."

It wasn't like Loki didn't pretty much always pay attention to his brother. They were best friends and partners in crime in all things as it was, rarely separated unless either one of them was working on their studies or skills. Loki was young, but he'd already started practicing magic with their mom, and he was good at it. Which was good, because he was small, and fighting and swords didn't feel nearly as interesting to him.

That didn't mean that Loki couldn't think his brother kind of stupid and annoying sometimes though. In fact, he thought that about as often as he thought Thor was the best and bravest. It was all a bit confusing.

Loki reached out to push at his brother, still scowling, although that might have just been more for show than anything else. "Don't say I'll ruin my time! You're ruining my time!" That wasn't true though. Not really. He wouldn't have even come here if Thor hadn't.

Thor knew all about the skills Loki was learning. Like turning himself into other things and tricking him. Thor had actually been mad at Frigga for that because it wasn't fair and gave Loki such an unfair advantage. Thor had been learning a lot about his own powers and even now, just walking around he felt somehow a lot stronger than ever. He hadn't really experimented with that yet but he definitely wanted to.

Loki's protests just entertained him that much more. Even though he didn't want to ruin his brother's good time. That wasn't his goal at all. He wanted to have fun together. They should be having revels! They were away from their parents and all the rules after all! "How can I be ruining your time when I have done nothing wrong?" He grinned. "I did not eat all the snacks. I hid them and you believed me!"

[info]lie_smith
2019-10-10 11:29 pm UTC (link)
Thor could think it unfair all he wanted, but that particular skill was all Loki's. It was just something that was his and came rather naturally -- Frigga had simply taught him to refine it a little better. And anyway, Thor was taller and stronger and better at a lot of stuff that Loki wanted to be good at. Like making friend.

Well. Actually, he'd just prefer that Thor didn't make friends at all, because that'd fix a lot of his problems. Which was probably why he was sticking so close to his brother, even when he was mad about it. He didn't actually want Thor to go off and make new friends and replacements for Loki.

Loki paused all together when Thor admitted to lying and before he could even really think about it, he was pulling a little knife from gods knew where and brandishing it at his brother. "How dare you?" He asked, even though there was a part of him that was impressed because Thor was usually a very, very bad liar.

Thor was taller and stronger and better at a lot of stuff and he'd proudly talk about it (a lot). But he also had a very soft spot for his brother which kind of made for a bizarre love not-hate-but-definitely-antagonize relationship between them. They'd fight and bicker and stab and shock each other all day but they'd also hug and laugh and play and make jest and it was just the greatest and worst.

There was never going to be anyone who could actually replace Loki, but Thor wasn't always great at expressing that. He had a lot of friends (who were unfortunately not anywhere to be found) but there was no one like his brother. Thor might annoy the ever living shit out of Loki but if his brother ever found himself in conflict with another Thor was always there to beat up anyone who would dare. And then usually Loki would stab him because he didn't need his help. But still.

"Because I can do anything I want. I'm a prince!" He said, like it was the most obvious thing in the world. And in summoning all his prince-like decorum, he stuck his tongue out at his brother.

The greatest and the worst. That was a very good description for all that Loki thought of Thor. Even now, he was both fond of any very annoyed by his brother. And it'd been like that for about as long as Loki could remember -- which was probably longer than most people here would have thought possible, considering Loki didn't look at day over nine or maybe ten.

"That's not how it works," he said, huffing out his annoyance at Thor because being a Prince didn't mean he could do anything he wanted (even if Loki had happily declared the same thing once or a million times himself).

And yes, of course he could have let the snacks thing go, and maybe even the lying thing, but the tongue thing? It was absolutely unacceptable. Which was probably why Loki decided that then and there was the perfect time to tackle his brother.

They were the greatest and worst brothers. In fact, Thor was fairly certain he'd heard both of their parents call them that on separate occasions. Thor loved Loki endlessly, truly and with all of his oversized heart of gold. But that also meant he loved to annoy the fuck out of him any chance he got and that was exactly why he'd pretended to eat all the snacks. Which, in their young minds was about as close to treason as it got.

"It is how it works!" He argued. Being a prince of Asgard meant he could do anything he wanted and have anything he wanted. No one would claim Thor Odinson wasn't full of himself.

If taking the food and lying about it was treason, tongue wagging was absolute high treason and he knew it. So when Loki tackled him, Thor caught him and wrestled him around without giving care to anything they might run into, until he'd pinned him down. "You cannot win with brute strength, brother. Yield!"

It wasn't how it worked, but arguing back and forth with the same words wasn't really an interest of Loki's because after a while it was just louder and still not any more or less convincing than it had been previously.

Wrestling, though, he could do. Even if it did mean Thor was likely to win if he didn't do a little creative cheating. Because they could roll around like idiots and knock into all manner of things, but Loki would still end up being the one who was pinned. But yielding? Absolutely not. Loki blinked up at his brother -- and it was clear he was holding back mirth instead of anger at this point, but that wasn't really what mattered here. It was the principle of it.

So he teleported out of Thor's grip in order to land directly on his back again. Sure, Thor could just roll them both over again, but Loki'd just keep on getting out of it.

They could be at this forever, if there was nothing to stop them.

Thor liked arguing back and forth even when it meant not making any forward progress. It meant he could just argue louder and that in of itself became a competition to him. He could win that too, proving to shout louder than Loki or whoever else he was quarreling with. Really, he could just turn most things into a competition or a game. It made life more enjoyable.

Until that is, Loki decided to cheat like he was doing now.

"Loki!" He called out when his brother teleported onto his back. "That is bad form! You cannot use magic in a wrestling match!" He twisted around and tried to push him off. "I will still best you even with your tricks!" The next time he pushed, his anger caused sparks to shoot from his fingers.

It barely even should have counted as cheating -- Loki was, after all, just using his skillset. What would have been cheating would have been expecting him to compete with Thor who was larger and stronger than him -- even if Loki was probably a little faster, there was no real winning in an actual rumble, particularly not in close quarters.

"Your face is bad form," Loki taunted right back, clearly delighting in having the upper hand. It didn't last long though, because Thor's electric touch was enough of a shock and a zap to have Loki yelping out in surprise and actually falling off of the spot on Thor's back that he'd decided to take up residence on.

He had a little knife out and in his hand before he knew it and was brandishing it in Thor's direction with an expression that was somewhere between accusing and annoyed. "Can't use magic?" He asked.

The thing was... he hadn't meant to do that. Thor was still kind of figuring out the whole Thunder God thing that really meant he could channel lightning and he didn't always know how to control it? It'd rarely ever done that though. Thor had no idea that he was actually a fifteen hundred year old god who was stronger than he'd ever been and all that power was literally at his fingertips right now while he was wrestling with his brother. It was kind of a wonder he hadn't destroyed the whole house just then and himself along with it.

Oops.

"I didn't mean to!" He protested when Loki produced a knife because he knew what was coming and sure enough he got a fast stabbing. It hurt, yeah, but Loki never actually stabbed to kill. And Odin would always just say to brush it off and not cry about it so Thor just growled at him instead. "You must use knives because you cannot do what I can do!" He pushed Loki again though he didn't conjure anymore lightning this time, thankfully. This probably wouldn't last long. Most of their skirmishes didn't. Instead of giving Loki a sound punch when he pinned him down that time he just tickled him mercilessly instead.

Honestly he didn't even remember what the fight was about a that point. Thor didn't really hold grudges that long. Oh, right. He'd tricked the trickster. "Just admit I bested you!"

It was just a little stab, really. In the grand scheme of things, anyway. Loki'd handed out worse before this and would again, he was sure. "I'm using knives because they obviously work," Loki said, feeling rather like he'd won, no matter what came after. He felt good enough about it, in fact, that he disappeared his knife. He didn't want Thor to bleed a lot. Just a little.

The tickling was cheating. Cheating because Thor was doing it, and because Loki was actually ticklish and after not too long at all he was howling with laughter and squirming beneath his brother in a way that said he'd absolutely lost the game. There'd be no recovering from giggles like this, the kind that made his eyes water. And after all the squirming and wrestling, he had to lay still, dramatic as he tried catching his breath. "You're the worst," he told his brother, refusing to actually admit he was bested, even if his lazy floor posture said so for him.
