that promised poll about this year's exchange
So long as there is enough interest in the exchange, we would like to continue it -- but we require a minimum of 26 participants. Our goal from the start was to have at least 24 entries by end of exchange and in our past experiences, there are almost always two drop outs, so 26 remains the minimum goal.

This year we just squeaked by. Comments were also down, which should not be assumed to be lack of interest as in our experience there are about 20 viewers for every comment received -- just ask those of us who archive our work somewhere! The viewers far outnumber those who choose to publicly share their opinion.

It's a phenomenon unlikely to change and not a task we are undertaking here, but we just want those who are unaware of such things to see that few comments don't equal few viewers.

The second order of business - location. We do love Insanejournal, but are aware not everyone does. Livejournal's policies and continued bugfuckery problems make us disinclined to post there except as a courtesy and if we continue there at all, we plan to crosspost with responses to go to the main community account only. The responses there are extremely low at any rate.

That all said, please take a moment to make your druthers known! We especially want to hear from our past participants. Naturally, if there is a question or other option not listed or just something you'd like to share relevant to the exchange, please do reply to the post with it. :)

I R goose, for sure.

I might be able to help by offering beta services, but this would depend on getting my freaking fic in on time for once.

Moving to DW wd be fine with me, but I didn't really have an opinion on that set of queries.

I can't swear that my opinion will be the same come August, but at present, I am not planning to sign up for [info]snapelyholidays 2012. It's a grand fest, though, and I've enjoyed being part of it these last three years. I certainly will participate as an enthusiastic reader, commentator, beta-reader, and fic/art reccer.

As for the location of the fest, to the extent that I have an opinion, I prefer Insane Journal, but it doesn't really matter to me one way or the other. Dreamwidth would be fine, too, or I like the cross-posting as well.

Thanks, Kelly; we certainly understand and hope you'll enjoy next year's fest (assuming there is one), whether as a participant or a reader/commentator/beta/reccer. :-)

I'm planning to sign up again. Of course, just about anything can happen in over half a year, but at the moment that's the plan. I like the cross-posting as I'm really only actively watching things on lj and I'm a bit afraid of missing deadlines to sign up etc if the cross-posting stops. If it does stop, I would prefer the exchange stay on IJ. But those are just my two sense.

I didn't fill out the poll because it sounds somehow as if I'm rejecting the fest by saying, "No to this, no to that." But I love [info]snapelyholidays. I just haven't been very visible lately or contributed much.

I doubt I'll participate as a writer this year; my life would have to get a hell of a lot better before the sign-up date, and I don't see that happening. I might be able to beta, and I'll certainly read and do my best to comment. All of this depends on circumstances beyond my control. But this is one of my favorite fests, and I'm grateful for all the work you do to keep it going.

I have no preference when it comes to the community's home, because I maintain journals at all three sites. Wherever you are, I'll be there reading.

I'd like to suggest something slightly different. How about posting the actual fics to the AO3, then crossposting headers and links? Whether you want to post the fics there initially or want us to do it, if we use co-authors there are ways to do it and they can be set to be invisible initially and then anonymous until the reveal. It has built in bookmarking, gifting, downloading and reccing features as well as the collections (I was going to ask if I/you could set up a Snapely Holidays collection on there as I know lots of us use it already), and people actually do comment and leave kudos.

I'm already considering it for the Reversathon just to make everyone's life easier, as long as I can keep the silly names somehow ;-)

Thanks, Fluffy! We hadn't thought of AO3, but since we don't have space to archive everything, that might be a good option. Your offer to help is much appreciated! Let's take this to email and see what we can work out. :-) I think I have your address; we'll email you from the Snapely mod addy so we can toss some ideas around.

(Also - Reversathon! - SQUEEE! *g*)

I clicked "no" to the first question because I wouldn't participate as a writer, but I do read and comment (although not on everything).

I would love to see the community move to Dreamwidth. I didn't even know about this poll until [info]bethbethbeth mentioned it in her journal - I'm a member both places but I'd only been watching on DW (I thought everything was crossposted).

When you say "migrate the community" do you mean using the shiny new community-import function? If so I don't have any personal advice (I've been considering doing it with [info]snapedom, but haven't yet), but I bet it would work fine. The only thing is that you pretty much have to close posts/comments entirely on the place you're moving from or people will not actually make the move. And in the case of DW it might be good to make clear that you needn't have an account, you can use OpenID (although I don't think IJ can function as an openid server... could be a problem for those people who only have IJ accounts and not LJ ones).

Thanks for your comments. We're still looking into the migration possibilities, but Dreamwidth is looking pretty promising. We'll see how the interest shapes up in a few more months.

Er, I'm technically a new writer, though I've been lurking for a while. I just want to say that I would love to participate in any way, either writing or being a beta. This fest is one of my favorites on the web.
