I really want to think so. I mean, in DH he *disobeys* Dumbledore's explicit order in favor of doing the ethical and moral thing, when he compromises his cover to try to save Lupin's life. If his Sectumsempra had hit its target, he would have had a huge amount of explaining to do when Voldemort asked why he lost one of his soldiers (or, in a worse-case scenario for Snape, one of his soldiers' *hands*) to a spell that obviously came from *right behind him* and it might even have been as much as Snape's neck was worth.
Oh yes, definitely! (I also use that incident as evidence for my OTP, the Snupin ship! *grins*) And there's also the time when Dumbledore asks something like, "How many people have you watched die?" and Snape replies, "Lately, only those whom I could not save," which seems to be evidence that he has gained that broader sense of morality, and cares about saving people other than Lily and Harry, who is sort of Lily-by-extension.
