I was almost put off by the subject Severus chose to teach (music), though I do find it intriguing that the healing spell angle was what interested him at first. I really like the alternate life he got to lead, and though he is still recognizably Snapeish, he was never stunted by a fatal tie to Lily.
I am now inspired to take Severus "off the rails" so to speak and see how he thrives in different circumstances. As a Snape writer, I never seem to be able to pull him away from the strings that bound him after a certain age.
