This was all kinds of awesome! ^_^ As I read, I was thinking to myself, now this is how Snape could have turned out, with a bit of understanding and guidance from a caring mentor, instead of someone who just wanted a pawn to manipulate.
It was hilarious, and yet sweet at the same time, when Snape's students started emulating his greasy hair, and later his flannel shirts. Professor Grunge, indeed!
Oh, and the letter from Lily cracked me up, particularly the reference to "Lily Sue"!
I truly believe that there's a bit of magic in music--even the kind made by us Muggles, and yes, even grunge. ;-) Even the most angry and despondent songs of that genre at least have a sense of cathartic release in them, I think. And Pearl Jam in particular has a nice mixture of despondency and hope in their music, imho--and they get bonus points for doing a song about a neglected, bullied kid ("Jeremy").
