About: | Are you tired of the misogyny and racism that lurks in Snape fandom? Are you tired of the canon bashing and JKR bashing? Are you tired of Snape being made into some pathetic woobie victim of fate? Do you want to nerd it up about Snape without the crazy fen stinking up the joint? Then come on over here to Snape Sanity: the Snape community for sane (yet still obsessed) Snape fans. That rabid vocal majority within Snape fandom (that is making it hard for you to enjoy discussing Snape, elsewhere) will not be tolerated here. Before joining or posting, read the tenets of Snape Sanity so that you know what the tone of the community is. This is not a community for every Snape fan. This group is meant to be a haven for those Snape fans who are fed up with the wanktastic vocal majority that seems to overrun every other area in Snape fandom. If you are one of those rabid Snapefen and you come in here and start wanking, it will be open season to mock and snark you here. Also, although I’ve got anonymous posting on, this group is moderated and all IP addresses will be logged (anon or not). Furthermore, I’m not afraid to step in and freeze a thread or turn off anon posting all together, nor am I afraid to use the banhammer, if it comes to that. Still on board? Then… Feel free to post: - meta/essays about Snape or about other characters/things related to Snape [see Meta/Essay Rules below] - fanfic or art that features Snape or is Snape-centric [see the Fic and Art Posting Rules below] - recs for meta/essays, fanfic, or art that features Snape or is Snape-centric [see the Rec Rules below] - a response to a Featured Topic (either in the original post or with an essay or piece of meta of your own) [see the About “Featured Topics” section below] Meta/Essay Rules: - The author is not dead and authorial intent counts for something - No amount of fanfic proves anything about canon - Put the bulk of your essay behind an lj-cut (how to do a cut) - For subject lines "Meta: title" or "Essay: title" will do. Fic and Art Posting Rules: For fic: - Label your fic with the appropriate ratings and warnings before the cut or link - Include the title, rating, warnings, ship (or note that it’s gen), and a short summary before the cut or link - Put the body of your fic behind an lj-cut or link to it (if you have it elsewhere and prefer to just link) - For subject lines "Fic: title" (plus part #, if applicable) will do. - Both canon compliant fic and AU fic are welcome (including non-magical AU) - Slash, het, and gen are all welcome (as is femmeslash if you genderswap Snape or have a second ship in your fic besides a Snape ship) For art: - Label your art with the appropriate ratings and warnings before the cut or link - Include the title, rating, warnings, ship (or note that it’s gen), and a short description before the cut or link - Put your art behind an lj-cut or link to it (if you have it elsewhere and prefer to just link) - For subject lines "Art: title" will do. - A small ‘work safe’ preview of the art may be included before the cut - Both canon compliant art and AU art are welcome (including non-magical AU) - Slash, het, and gen are all welcome (as is femmeslash if you genderswap Snape or have a second ship in your fic besides a Snape ship) Rec rules: - Include the title, any ratings, warnings, or ships (or note that it’s gen), and a summary/description for whatever you are reccing - For subject lines "Fic Rec: title/brief description", "Art Rec: title/brief description" or "Meta/Essay Rec: title/brief description" will do. Entry Tags: - You can tag it yourself or I'll come along and tag it. - I've created a bunch of tags to choose from, but if your pairing isn't there, just choose snape/other and I'll make a new tag for the missing pairing. About “Featured Topics”: - Every so often there will be a “Featured Topic” of discussion. - I’ll pick a topic at random out of a hat (or pick something I or a member is hankering to discuss) and make a Featured Topic post that you can respond to or create your own meta/essay for, if you like (it’s totally optional). - Along with the presented topic I will provide a series of questions related to that topic which you can optionally answer (answer as many or little of them as you like). -Yes, I was inspired by the Monthly Challenges at Snapedom and from the way they set up discussion threads at the CoS forums. <---- credit where credit is due | ||||||||||
