We know that a number of our members are busy working on their Severus/Harry Big Bang entries *dances*, so keep on working and don't mind us. ;D But for all the rest of us who are refreshing our flists continuously looking for MOAR Snarry goodness because October seems like a very long time to wait, this post may be for you. *g*
One of the more popular suggestions from our feedback poll was that people wanted to see a return to Snarry challenges. So your mods have decided this would be the perfect opportunity to bring them back.
Therefore, we are announcing "Summer of Snarry". "Summer of Snarry" is a non-anonymous, self-posted, fic and art challenge hosted at snape_potter on LJ, IJ, and DW. As always, new folks and old veteran Snarry lovers (and even you Big Bangers who are reading this post instead of working ;D) are all equally welcome to participate.
The theme for our challenge is, simply, Summer!
Summer has always been a time of mixed emotions for our two heroes. For Harry there was the drudgery of his return to the Dursleys offset by the carefree time spent at the Burrow. And for Snape it meant a respite from teaching dunderheads only to have far more time available to do the bidding of his two masters.
Maybe you have a hankering for some old school "Snape saves Harry from the Dursleys" or hides him away from prying eyes to train him. Or, post-war, it could be that Snape's home from Hogwarts for the summer but Harry still works full time as an Auror and Severus never realised just how much he missed him. Harry, on the other hand, is surprised to see the breakfast dishes still in the sink when he gets home when Severus has been home all day puttering around the house. Or maybe Harry's children are home for the hols and Severus isn't used to dealing with them all day, every day. Or is it Harry who isn't used to a houseful of teenagers? Or while Severus wants to holiday in the Outer Hebrides, Harry sees himself under a coconut palm in Tahiti.
Pre or post-war, canon or AU, we want to see how Harry and Severus spend their summer hols...together.
How it works:
As always, authors, artists, vidders, and any combination of the preceeding are welcome!
BUT! We are trying something new this time. Because your mods are also part of the group of people busy with the Severus/Harry Big Bang, we thought this would be the perfect time to try some new things.
What's DIFFERENT: •Participants will NOT be anonymous. •Participants will pick their own posting date from a list of available dates. First come, first choice. Proxies are permitted. •Once the sign-ups are complete, the mods will post a calendar with the names of participants next to their posting date. No need to confirm your participation by e-mail. If you are on the calendar, you are in. If you don't see your name and you should be there, e-mail the mods at spfestmod@gmail.com. •Participants will do their own posting. Your mods are ALWAYS happy to help with posting or will post (or cross-post) for you if you cannot or you prefer to remain anonymous. •Participants are REQUESTED to cross-post to snape_potter on DW/LJ/IJ since the membership isn't the same at all three, but are NOT required to do so. Your mods will create weekly wrap-ups and a ML with links to everything so people on all three journals will be able to find links to everything posted for the challenge.
What's the Same: •Cross-posting at snape_potter on LJ/IJ/DW is encouraged. •We will be holding sign-ups so we know who/how many people will be participating. •We will post weekly wrap-ups and a ML of entries that includes links to all three journal sites at the conclusion of the challenge.
How Do I Claim a Posting Date: •The claiming post will appear at the comm on Thursday, July 5 at 1 pm EST. There will be three available slots on each weekday beginning Monday, July 23 until Friday, August 5. That's two weeks and a possible 30 available posting slots. Weekends are reserved for anyone who wants to post a challenge entry but missed sign-ups or for people who missed their initial posting date.
•Check the posting schedule for unclaimed dates and fill out the claim form in the claiming post. Post your completed claim form to the entry on DW/LJ/IJ. IT IS NOT SCREENED. You will be asked for one Preferred Posting Date and one Alternate Preferred Posting Date. Posting will be first requested, first choice. Entries are time-stamped and visible to everyone.
•Claiming a posting date by proxy via a friend is allowed.
•If you have no preference for a posting date, please indicate this and the mods will assign you a spot after sign-ups have closed.
•The mods will update the posting schedule as quickly as possible.

FAQs: Q. - Where will the challenge be held?
A. - The challenge will be held at snape_potter on IJ, LJ, and DW. We encourage participants to cross-post to the community at DW/IJ/LJ, BUT THEY ARE NOT REQUIRED TO DO SO. If they do not have accounts at all three journals or for any other reason, the mods will be happy to post for them if requested. A weekly wrap-up and a masterlist of entries linking to where all challenge entries can be found will be posted by the mods.
Q. - When will I be able to sign-up and claim a posting date?
A. - Sign-ups/claiming begin on Thursday, July 5 at 1 PM EST.
Q. - How do I claim a posting date?
A. - Claims should be made in the comment section of the sign-up/claiming post on DW/LJ/IJ. COMMENTS WILL NOT BE SCREENED.
Q. - What if I won't be available when sign-ups open?
A. - You are permitted to use a proxy (someone else can sign up for you). But only one sign-up per comment is permitted. In other words, you cannot make one comment to sign up yourself and several friends. You would need to comment once for each person.
Q. - If several people want to sign up for the same date, how do you decide who will be assigned?
A. - Each date has up to three possible open posting slots. And it is first come, first choice.
Additionally, at sign-ups people will be requested to do two things: 1) Look at the schedule (which we will update as we go along) and 2) Select a first choice and an alternate posting date.
Q. - What if I don't care which date I post?
Q. - Then the mods will love you forever for your flexibility and we will add you to any unclaimed posting slots at the end of the sign-up period.
Q. - How many people will be posting each day?
A. - We are hoping to fill three slots per day of the challenge period.
Q. - Is there a time on my day I'm required to post?
A. - That's completely up to the participant. As long as it's your date somewhere in the world, you can post.
Q. - What if I sign-up and then the muse dries up or I can't finish in time for my posting date?
A. - There is no penalty for not submitting an entry. We're all friends here. But please be aware that since the posting schedule is public, people will be aware you defaulted. You may want to see if another participant is willing to change posting dates with you.
Q. - What happens if people forget to post?
A. - Then there will be either no entry or one less entry that day. This challenge has no pinch-hitters.
Q. - What if I miss my posting date, but my entry is completed? Can I still post?
A. - Yes. We have build in "free" posting dates (Saturday and Sunday) for people who would like to submit multiple challenge entries, people who decided to participate after the sign-up period, and for people who missed their assigned posting date.
Q. - Where should I submit my completed entry?
A. - You won't. The mods will see your entry the same time as all the rest of the readers. There is no need to submit anything to us ahead of time.
Q. - Then who is doing the posting?
A. - Participants will be responsible for doing their own posting for this challenge. We encourage participants to cross-post their entries to the community at DW/IJ/LJ, BUT THEY ARE NOT REQUIRED TO DO SO. A weekly wrap-up and a masterlist of entries linking to where all challenge entries can be found will be posted by the mods.
Q. - May I submit vids, crafts or jewelery as my entry?
A. - Absolutely.
Q. - May I collaborate with another author or artist?
A. - Absolutely.
Q. - You guys just want to see more Snarry, don't you?
