Note: It’s also yet another Motherless Child ficlet, because I can’t seem to quit those two no matter how much I try. This one mainly concerns Severus’ Muggle relatives.
Gemma’s husband was happy to explain cricket to his in-laws, especially after Remus admitted that he followed American baseball (“It’s my mum, she lives in Minneapolis and loves the local team”). Severus, who’d perfected the art of looking attentive while actually observing something else when he was barely older than Alison, kept an eye on the girl as she batted, pitched, and otherwise dominated the game.
“Definitely magical,” he murmured to Remus when the conversation shifted to which restaurant the team would visit after the game. “We’ll need to tell them before she turns eleven.”
“No kidding,” Remus murmured back.
