Note: this is a prequel of sorts to Motherless Child, in which Snape and Lupin marry and adopt a child. This takes place before the series begins, soon after the end of the first war against Voldemort. Warning for some very nasty homophobic attitudes and language.
Lupin flushed. “You're an intelligent man, Severus. I won't insult you by spelling things out.”
Neither spoke for a few moments. Severus finally found his voice. “I always wondered. Evan and I – we were the only ones in Slytherin, at least the only ones who'd admit it.”
“Gryffindor was worse. Sirius Black - “ Lupin closed his eyes. “He never understood. Lily might have, but - “
“Attention! Attention!” A young woman burst in, a fistful of pamphlets in her hand. “The Herbological Defense Society is convening an urgent meeting to combat climatological disruption! 1:00 pm sharp!”
