Note: this is a prequel of sorts to Motherless Child, in which Snape and Lupin marry and adopt a child. This takes place before the series begins, soon after the end of the first war against Voldemort. Warning for some very nasty homophobic attitudes and language.
“Severus. I'm not going to out you.” Lupin frowned. “I would never do that. I simply wanted to catch up with the news.”
“News? They have British newspapers in America.”
“Not ones like this.” Lupin had gone slightly pale. What the devil was going on? “My students are interested in politics – did you know there's been something of a backlash since Reagan was elected? A British newspaper - “
“ - chock full of personal ads for gay men is not really appropriate for children.” Severus narrowed his eyes. “Is there something I should know, Lupin?”
