Note: this is a prequel of sorts to Motherless Child, in which Snape and Lupin marry and adopt a child. This takes place before the series begins, soon after the end of the first war against Voldemort. Warning for some very nasty homophobic attitudes and language.
“So. The poofters are marching again.” Lucius Malfoy, elegant, pale, and very much married, dimissed Severus' copy of the Pink Parchment with a flick of his wand. “One would think they'd have the sense to avoid attracting attention.”
“It's difficult to avoid attention when one is dying, Lucius.” Severus paused, once again grateful that Wizards were immune to AIDS. “Especially when simply being ill causes a panic.”
“All the more reason to stay quiet.” Lucius coolly looked Severus up and down. “One would think that your – friendship – with Evan Rosier would have taught you that.”
