First came what Minerva termed a “collation” for the Governors to partake of refreshment after their journey. Severus nursed his punch and observed his colleagues mingle with their guests; for all her nerves, Granger was surprisingly good with the newcomers, while Filius was equally awkward and fumbling.
Minerva presided with her usual calm, and by the time the Governors pronounced themselves ready to commence, the party was well fed, lubricated, and in a fine mood. It augured well...at least until Filch's cat impaled a juvenile dragon with her claws, and the creature's dying breath set Madame Valiente's robes on fire.
