Fortunately for Gilderoy Lockhart's continued existence, Severus was able to intercept the post owl he'd engaged to contact the Dark Arts Defense League before they offered Severus a role in their holiday panto. Unfortunately for Severus' sanity, the invitation to join the DADL was followed by solicitations from a variety of other organizations, from the Kennel Club to the the Royal Society of Collectible Magical Bric-a-brac (which was, alas, not a joke, as Severus learned after Septima Vector frostily informed him that she was a member).
The best, and worst, was the invitation from the Most Extraordinary Society of Potioneers.
