“More tea, your ladyship?” Severus waited while the Countess finished her tea. She always had a second cup, but only after he asked.
“Thank you, Severus.” The Countess smiled approvingly as she took her first sip. “Perfection. Mr. Malfoy has no idea what he missed.”
Severus could not help a tiny smirk at how annoyed Lucius had been that Severus had refused to respond to his needling. “Scone or sandwiches? Cook was very proud of the deviled ham today so might I suggest a taste?”
“Such a good salesman! You always can persuade me,” said Lady Carrollton.
