“That's a handsome clock, Severus.” Poppy Pomfrey nodded approvingly in the direction of the beautifully detailed little timepiece on the corner of his desk, the standard hands ticking off minutes and seconds and hours with quiet efficiency. “Part of your collection?”
“Quite,” said Severus. “It does its job.”
Poppy leaned down for a closer look. “I'm surprised it's not customizable for family and friends.”
Severus shrugged. “I've no family, and most of my friends live here.”
“I would have thought Remus would have merited - “
“Time for lunch,” said the clock in a cultured voice.
