They called themselves the Wanderers – Severus, Lily, James, Remus Lupin, and Peter Pettigrew - after a line from Lily's favorite book about wanderers not necessarily being lost, and by the end of their first term they had a reputation as the brightest students to hit Hogwarts in years. Their great rivals were Sirius Black and his Marauders, half of whom were Slytherins, but there was no malice in it; James and Sirius had known each other at dame school and were still friends, so why fight?
Then came rumors of a dark force outside the school, and everything changed....
