Feeding the newt was annoying, and expensive (who knew that it could eat so many flobberworms? Or how much Waltrude Wunderkind's Worm-O-Rama would charge for same-day delivery?). Coupled with Master Potter's appalling table manners, and meal time was one of the least pleasant moments of Severus' day.
Worse, though, was having to do with the results of feeding Harry Potter's eldest offspring.
Severus was used to bodily wastes – he'd raised his own plimpies for years, after all – but the sheer quantity of newt scat was unexpected. Ditto the creature's demands for fine quality litter and continually fresh water....
