The Bloody Baron refused to say exactly what he did to Peeves to get him to behave. Rumor had it that the ghost had to resort to outright threats, but aside from Sinistra forbidding students to approach the Astronomy Terror for a week, there was no evidence.
The closest the Baron came to explaining Peeves' chastisement was a hollow laugh when the poltergeist stammered out a public apology to Severus, then fled for the greenhouses. He went nowhere near any of the towers, the Slytherin Common Room, nor the Great Hall for the rest of the term.
It was wonderful.
