Peeves was not pleased at being blasted through the nearest open window, not that Severus gave a toss for the poltergeist's tender feelings. He knew the rules - “no disruption of exams” was near the top – and should have known better than to break one so blatantly.
“Actions have consequences,” Severus told the Bloody Baron, and the Baron, wise thanks to his many years haunting the castle, nodded sagely and promised to keep Peeves in line.
He kept his promise, too (the Baron was a ghost of his word), and so peace descended upon Hogwarts.
