The carpet was dusty, battered, and threadbare in several places, but it all but quivered and rose up spontaneously when Severus walked into the questionably clean little shop. He raised his eyebrows, murmured a charm, and spent the next few minutes bargaining for a Toby jug he neither needed nor wanted.
It wasn't until the shopkeeper was wrapping his purchase (it would make a fine gift for his Muggle gran) when he inquired about the carpet.
“Oh, that manky thing?” said the shopkeeper. She stuffed newspaper into the Toby jug. “Five quid and it's yours.”
“Done,” said Severus.
