The Rufus Glorificus was not the only rare magical plant that had become extinct thanks to overharvesting and environmental changes. That it had been revived through the happy coincidence of an ordinary bulb being planted in soil contaminated by seventy year old war debris made Severus wonder if perhaps, just perhaps, this was the answer to reviving other lost species.
He was right, at least for normal species. However, certain lost plants had unique soil and nutritional needs, needs that could only be met by contaminated chalk.
That was why Severus waited until a moonless night in March, mounted his broom, and headed for the White Cliffs of Dover.
