"So you are celebrating your birthday," said Minerva as she escorted Severus to the apparation point. He wore Muggle clothes, had combed his hair for once, and his usual scowl was not in evidence. "I trust you have plans?"
"I trust you have a reason for asking. Or do you need to monitor my movements as part of my parole?" Severus did not look at her as he spoke.
"Severus. I merely was making conversation." As much as she hated to admit it, he had good reason to be suspicious. "Have a good time."
"Thank you," he said, and disappeared.
