Note: this is a Motherless Child story, set about eight years after Snape and Lupin adopted a young werewolf.
Severus circled the sculpture group his husband and son had created from the heavy, wet, and rapidly disappearing snow. "Very nice," he said at last. "Well done."
"Yippee!" John hugged him hard enough to shove him slightly off balance. "Can we have hot chocolate now?"
"Of course," said Remus, grinning madly despite his loathing of hot chocolate. "Go inside and take off your boots, and we'll be right along."
Severus waited until the boy had scampered into the house. "I look like I'm walking two crippled Alsatians, not two wolves."
Remus shrugged. "He's only eight. It could be worse."
