"Headmaster Snape?"

Snape set the detention report aside. "Yes, Mr. Crabbe?"

The boy held out a book. The dark leather binding was scarred by age and potions and fluids. "Sir." He cleared his throat.

"Sir. This book - "

"Sit down, Mr. Crabbe." Snape cautiously checked the protections spelled into the binding before setting it aside. "Since the only copy of this tome is in the Restricted Section, I presume your father gave you this."

"Yes, sir. I'd like permission to practice some of the spells."

Snape shook his head. "This is dangerous for adults, let alone a half-trained wizard."
