Note: this is set a few weeks after the end of Motherless Child, where Snape and Lupin adopt an orphaned werewolf. They have just returned from a trip to Massachusetts where they married.


They had politely declined Gerry's offer to join in his annual martyrdom, then decided to stick to Trafalgar Square instead of Diagon Alley on Pride Day. Rita Skeeter still wanted an interview, and as Severus pointed out, she didn't take rejection well.

So far, so good. They were other male couples with children, entertainment and food were plentiful and good, and no one had recognized them. Even better, it looked as if the Queen would eventually give Royal Assent to the Civil Partnership Act.

It had all been quite lovely until a familiar voice said, "Professor Snape? Is that you?"
