Note: this is set a few weeks after the end of Motherless Child, where Snape and Lupin adopt an orphaned werewolf. They have just returned from a trip to Massachusetts where they married.
"Gerry Weasley wants us to do what?" Severus, Johnny tucked firmly into the crook of his arm, stared at Remus as if he'd suddenly announced that space aliens had landed in the front garden.
"That's what the letter says." Remus distractedly tugged at a stray lock of hair. "Chaining ourselves to the front steps at Gringott's? With a baby? Is he mad?"
"Quite possibly." Johnny made a noise that sounded rather like ga-goo! and began to squirm. "He's been fighting this war long enough to become unhinged."
"Poor bastard," murmured Remus. "He's been at this longer than I've been out."
