Professor Toda met him at the ryokan for breakfast, as promised, and then accompanied him to the monastery where she had found the potions texts. The abbot spoke a bit of English, and after the obligatory bowing and drinking of tea, he ushered Severus and Professor Toda into a small room where several ancient scrolls lay waiting to be examined.
Professor Toda bowed to the abbot, who smiled and exited. She murmured a phrase in her own language to translate the writing, then nodded to Severus.
"Interesting," he murmured, sitting down and beginning to read. "And in code."
