"Ah, my faithful followers," purred the Dark Lord, leaning forward in what had been one of Narcissa Malfoy's Louis XVI dining room chairs. "So faithful. So powerful. So…old."

Snape smirked at the murmurs of dismay. Had no one looked in a mirror lately?

"We have failed to attract the younger generation, with few exceptions." The Dark Lord smiled as a group of twentysomethings entered the room. "This will be remedied. Recruitment has begun among young adults, and each has been assigned to one of you…."

The smirk vanished as Stan Shunpike ambled up to Snape and stuck out his hand.

Severus took a sip from his wine glass and looked at his companion. “Do you really believe our fate can be told from the stars?”

Aurora smiled. “If I didn’t, I wouldn’t have spent my life providing information for those with the gift to use it and teaching others how to do the same.”

Severus frowned. “Seems rather limiting.”

“The future isn’t set in concrete. The heavens move; the patterns change. We change as well. It’s our choices that make the difference.”

“And if we’ve chosen badly?”

“We can always make another choice.”

“I wonder...” He took another sip of wine.
