Note: this is yet another Motherless Child sequel, wherein Snape and Lupin have married and adopted a baby werewolf. This is set during a post-wedding visit to Lupin's mother in America.
A movement outside drew them both to the window. Maggie Lupin, her Indian print skirt swirling in the breeze, knelt and began to pull up lettuce from the grass.
"I'm sure she was thrilled by your polyester robes," murmured Severus, fascinated despite himself. Certain medicinal herbs had to be tended without magic, but salad greens?
"Do you think I was daft enough to wear them at home?" Remus placed a hand on his shoulder blades and leaned close enough for his hair to tickle Severus' cheek.. "A Mohawk? Your housemates must have been impressed."
"Madame Capillaria's Bald-B-Gone works as advertised."
