Waiting until Toby turned up, dead or alive, was a huge waste of time. Severus finally gave up and started casting the spells to transform a dank basement into an adequate potions lab, borrowed experienced carpentry elves to put up bookshelves, and boxed up his childhood possessions and stored them in the attic. His work needed privacy and space, not childhood toys, tatty old books, and his Mum's cut down school robes.
He still couldn't bring himself to move into his parents' bedroom, even after six months.
