Challenge #257: The January Man. This is the third in a series of challenges based on the titles of Alan Rickman movies (note: yes, yes . . . Rickman and Snape still aren't the same person. Work with me here, folks *g*). With The January Man - as with all the movies used in this challenge series - it's only the title you need to use as a prompt for your drabble, i.e., you needn't consider the plot or anything else having to do with the film.

Severus leans against his crypt, smirking at the bouquet of black orchids in an alabaster urn.  He suspected Narcissa would have plans for his birthday.  How strange to finally have some attention, now that he is dead. 

The last time he recalled having a party on his birthday was when he turned seven, when his Da was working a double-shift and his Mam did not have to worry about himself spoiling her plans.  He recalls the raspberry jam cake and the second-hand gobstones.  He swears he can still hear her rough voice, calling him her little January man.
